Engineers Anaconda + Destination Change = Fail

Happened to me in beta and bug reports were posted.
After it happened I decided against a clipper and upgraded my Python.
I knew that I'd need to have a mission capable ship for 2.1
Credit making has been postponed and along with it my goal of an explorer Anaconda!

It's silly how some ppl can't adapt to changing conditions and will continue to do something in the only way they want.

They patched the game to warn you if your ship will not be capable of landing at the destination, so why not use a large ship? Someone obviously goofed on this destination change and didn't take the larger ships into account. Get off your high horse cool guy.

How does 'adapting' make any sense for a delivery mission worth 500k that requires 144 cargo slots?

You're going to have to stop somewhere, spend 150mil on buying and outfitting a python after your other deliveries are complete, and then make the delivery. It makes zero financial sense to do that.

Well, if your mission is to deliver something to somewhere, securely and just in time, maybe a truck is not the best tool for a job. If you saw for example "The Transporter" movie, Jason Statham was using neither M1A2 Abrams nor the large truck with fancy paintbrush. :)

It seems that from 2.1 every ship has a place as a proper tool for certain kind of job.

P.S. I have Conda too, but it never comes to my mind to use the pregnant whale for a fast cargo delivery mission. Not in 2.1, not in 1.3 simply never.

Does not matter what ship you have as they all travel in Hyper and Supercruise at the same speed, besides the point is that you are given (From my experience) 2 mins to deliver the cargo, but the station is 100,000Ls+ away, and no ship in Elite can do that!!!

Also the OP is saying that you are given a mission from the board to suit your ship you are flying NOW, then the system changes the destination with a landing pad not suitable for that same ship? It's just not on no matter if you are flying a Truck or a nimble Ferrari

This is the point of this thread!!!

Wow, you can tell it's half-term can't you?

As said, the whole point is that you choose missions based on parameters outlined to you. One of these is that the mission is completable in the ship that you are CURRENTLY in. That's why you have a section on the mission board outlining missions that are currently NOT available to you for reasons of reputation, pad suitability or rank.

Making a likeness to real life for a second - if the mission parameters change for reasons beyond the clients control then fair enough, I appreciate this can happen. However, for the client to fine me because of a change THEY want to make, then I'm sorry but that's unacceptable. If anything I'd expect to be compensated for the loss of my time, either by being allowed to legally keep the cargo entrusted to me, or by some other means.

It's obvious that this is an oversight, and if (like me) you're looking to rank up with a particular superpower/faction/whatever then you need to take the missions that you're offered!

LOL - "Rule number 2, Never change the deal. The deal is the deal"......(At least I think it was #2 - #1 being "No names"!)

This has just happened to me today. A mission transporting 99 battle weapons for a juicy 1.3m, easy money. Mission changes when I arrive at designated system, redirected to another system....outpost. I'm in a type 7 and have no way to complete the mission. I can sell the cargo on the black market to recoup my losses when I inevitably get scanned and fined at the next station but it's the loss of rep that's the pain. I've spent ages trying to build it up and now it's going to take a severe hit through no fault of my own. This isn't a bug, it's careless oversight.

This is what you get when you take extra month to <s>introduce</s> fix extra bugs to ensure quality standard, that customers are now used to.

In my experiance so far, most if not all missions have a random chance of getting a curve ball thrown in. That's a pretty cool addition, but it dosent take into account what you have, and that can result in no choice but to abandon.

I think the biggest issue here is (apart from the bugs) that these changes are forced upon you. If the NPC would contact you and ask you "could you also get us X additionally for Y extra payment" and you had the option to say "no, I am busy enough already", that would be much better.

When I do a mission, I always check the destination and (if applicable) faction of opponents. To not antagonize a faction I want to be on good terms with, and to not end up flying somewhere I rather would not (think: Hutton Orbital). I may take 2 smaller, cheaper transport missions if they lead to the same place, but if they both end up going 50Ly in opposite directions, what previously was a good opportunity taken turned into a lot of time wasted for comparatively little pay-off.

One may also only have a limited time to play. If you only half 30 minutes, which should be fine for many missions, but then the mission requires you to do some extra task (e.g. go get the aforementioned FWS first), you may no longer be able to complete it in your playtime window.

Hey everyone, the issue is being looked into and thank you for reporting.

Thanks for the word Jonny!
