Anaconda effectiveness in RES site

Hello cmdrs. How many of you go to res sites with well equipped combat anacondas, and, do they destroy everything in their path ?
I currently have an A grade combat Python and a well armed trading Annocanda. Really tempted to sell the Python and further equip the Conda. Is it worth it?

many thanks Flimley

As owner of fully upgraded Anaconda... I say yes. If you willing to pay 300+ mill for upgrades and dont mind that 20 mill insurance...

She takes SSS solo easy, can hold long time in CZ even under heavy fire. In PvP, if not against full wing of very good players, you will be see many Cmdr's who runs for thier life if dared to attack you. If they let get killed by you, it means they need to learn more about things.

Had Conda in many various setups and I must say... Annie is really good of you use 100%+ of that 36MW juice.

RES sites are so easy to begin with, you dont need such setup to own in these. I think only for PVP its good to have her maxed.

as an owner of an A rated conda as well i have to say that the jump in price isn't worth the upgrade from an A rated python. You wont kill things much faster in an A rated conda than you will in an A rated python, you sacrifice maneuverability as well as paying an extra 300 odd million credits (assuming you dont get the armor upgrade, since powerplant kills are a thing anyways). Long story short, unless you have too much credits to burn its not worth upgrading to an A rated conda, much less so if you do it by selling your combat python (considering you will still be atleast 100M short)

In a RES I would stay with the Python because of its speed advantage over the Anaconda.

However, I often took Shuruga to RES's, mostly because of the giggle-factor...

Condas are overkill for RES. That's stuff for smaller ships like Diamond Backs/Imp Courier and Vultures. Pythons and Condas rock Conflict Zones and Strong Signal Sources.

As far as selling your Python to finish off your conda? Yes, very yes. I did it and I don't regret it one bit. Get thrusters, power distributor, shields and the power plant topped off asap and you are good to go. I go full A class kit aside from a D class scanner which is mostly for jump range trade off.

Also next patch the power plant changes are going to make the Condas beasts to kill. You will basically have to destroy their hull to kill them off. So you most likely will never die in PvE.

A class Conda has bit better maneuverability compared to A Class Python (atleast for me) but its lot more slower in raw speed.

Edit:

Also next patch the power plant changes are going to make the Condas beasts to kill.

h347h where you did get that info? I dont hear anything like that before about powerplants.

Really depends on personal flying preferences and mood.

I personally keep gravitating back to the Anaconda over and over again simply for RES hunting because of the DPS it provides with a mix of 4 large fixed pulses, two medium and two small rails - I don't even bother with subsystems most of the time.

Since 1.3, I tend to prefer an all fixed beam setup since good spawns seem to have become more rare in Hi RES compared to the general RES in 1.2 and if I found a good site, I don't want to leave to rearm.

However, if you're after credits, the spawn god decides and whilst it's easy to fry small stuff in an Anaconda, it's not worth it compared to D-Fitting it and trading (that's a statement, not a complaint).

Not needing the credits as much, I often did RES in a Courier fitted with a med beam and two med seeker launchers recently and enjoyed it to some extent just for the eighties man-love Top Gun fighter cliché, but each time I fly the FDL or Python, I soon switch back to the Conda due to their relatively anemic damage output.

In open, it's a different issue - I only fly cheap ships whose powerplants aren't made of dynamite enclosed by an eggshell.

A mostly D rated Anaconda is perfectly fine for RESing NPCs. Upgrade the capacitor and shield above D, get 5 pulse lasers and some shield cells and you'll do good.
