Newcomer / Intro Anaconda : Engineering Mule?

I know Orodruin uses an Anaconda as an engineering module mule. But I dont get the mechanics exactly. How do you use it as a mule? How do others do this same task? Also what else can an Annie be used for?

I use my Anaconda the same way and take advantage of it's 75LY jump. I load it up with modules I need to engineer for my other ships, then go around the bubble visiting all the engineers and bring those parts back home to my specialized ships that have poor jump. I imagine that is what Orodruin means when he uses it as a module mule.

I have bought one now as I just could not stop myself! I have always wanted one since I started playing in late March and I can easily afford it. So I am building my fleet and expanding beyond just having one main ship and now will use a fleet to enjoy the game and its multiple role activities.

Do you just put a module into the same class or higher and then just fill up with modules and go to the engineers?

Mine has about 45LY range but is unengineered. Do you get the extra LY from engineering it? I want a 75LY range too. So I guess I have to engineer the mule before I start engineering modules?

Does anyone have a good spec for an unengineered and engineered Annie?

Yes, I got the >75 LY jump using engineering. My Anaconda is for exploration. Many consider it to be a paperConda, but I landed at Strong G HD 148937 3 (9.77G) with it. I have such great jump because I'm utilizing a 2A power plant. Power priorities are important with that type of power plant, but I got it working good (see the power priorities in coriolis) and have done around ~60k LY exploring in it so far without hiccup. But yeah, that ship also doubles as my module mule when I'm in the bubble because I can fit any weapon or other module in it and then go around visiting all the engineers.

Here is a Unengineered Anaconda (except for FSD) that will get almost 70 LY

You plan your outfitting and engineering for a ship. Then you buy all the modules you are going to need and fit all of them that you can on an Anaconda that is engineered and otherwise outfitted for jump range (turn off modules if you run into power problems). Then use the Anaconda to fly around to the relevant engineers. Once back, transfer the engineered modules to the ship they should be on. You cannot do some particular modules such as armor or fsd like this, but it will significantly reduce jumping around in a short range ship.

So you can only fit one FSD? Therefore cannot engineer more than your current drive?

The point is that you can transfer modules and weapons into the outfitting store of the engineer base.

So for example you can go to an engineer and transfer several shield generators then you swap them in and out of your ship in the engineer's base, modifying them in turn. The advantage of using the Anaconda is that it has a wide range of sizes available to mount your equipment for modification. Again using the shield generator as an example - you can mount modules from size 3 up to size 7. Some modules have no limit to what can be fitted (such as PDs) whereas others have limitations due to either slot requirements (armour, life support and sensors) or mass like thrusters etc. Weapons can be fitted from Huge downwards, so again the Anaconda is useful for them too.

A recurring request in the Suggestions forum is for the ability to haul modules as if they were cargo - never heard back on that ever.

Yes.
Yes.

See my text above.

My answers are correct. Of course you can ship modules and swap them then engineer them. YOU missed the “point”. Which is to use a ship as a mule to carry modules to the engineer bases, which of course cannot be done. Here’s OP’s question:

Do you just put a module into the same class or higher and then just fill up with modules and go to the engineers?

Well actually...

That was not the question you quoted and were therefore supposedly answering which I qualified. That quoted post's questions were:
So you can only fit one FSD? Therefore cannot engineer more than your current drive?
Yes.
Yes.

In your answer you failed to account for @Hawknerd's overall question in the thread. Hence my answer which demonstrated the / a method. My modification of your answers was to indicate that you can engineer more than your current drive.

So no need to get snippy, I didn't "miss the point" as you seem to indicate you were answering a totally different post to the one you actually had quoted and I didn't berate you for your answer, just qualified it.
