Engineers Anaconda Engineering

Hi all

Long time lurker first time poster.

I have searched many threads and advice websites regarding engineering, however I am hoping for some build specific advice and critic?

Here is my current anaconda build (Happy with it but open to suggestions)
https://coriolis.edcd.io/outfit/ana.....EweloBhBmUDYAsICmBDA5gG2SEBGCQoA&bn=Machine

Critic on my build is welcome, but also looking for my build specific engineering advice? what should/shouldn't I try and go for?
I am looking for PVE mainly build, so some BH and maybe CZ. Right now I am gearing up by running passenger missions but PVE with friends.

Engineers:
Felicity Farseer 4*
Elvira Martuuk 3*
Tod Mcquinn 3*
The Dweller 2*
Lei Cheung (Waiting final quest)
Juri Ishmaak (Waiting final quest)
Liz Ryder (Locked)

Thanks for any advice, Skipal

Currently this is what I use https://coriolis.edcd.io/outfit/ana...WuABAEaIDOAlmiAIwSNA===&bn=Conda basic turret, it is however heavily engineered but you could get a similar result with higher grade components and lower level engineering.

With the Beyond release just around the corner I'd suggest ranking up with engineers and stockpiling mats/data rather than engineering now and having to repeat the process with the new release, for example to rank up with Farseer you could roll several shielded FSD and discard them, same for the Dweller use shielded PD mods to rank up and keep the rare mats for grade 5 charge enhanced.

Use Inara https://inara.cz/galaxy-engineers/ to plan a ranking path with easy to acquire mats/data, as to the best mods;- long range FSD G5, charge enhanced PD G5, low emissions power plant G1, efficient energy weapons G5, OC MC/cannons G5, shields;- bi-weave + resistance boosters G5 or reinforced + heavy duty boosters G5, hull armour and HRP's heavy duty G5.

Thank you for your reply, never gave the Beyond release a thought so yeah great advice which I will take.

Specific additions to Ceekay's advice, get grade 3 dirty drive from Farseer.

Upgrade your E modules to D or A. That E sensor is 160 tons of unnecessary weight.

Finish unlocking Lei Cheung for engineering Shields and the Tod McQueen line of engineers to boost you weapons, armor, hull reinforcements and shield boosters, plus your favorite grade 5 mod for your particle accelerator.

After a quick look, my personal opinion would be:

-Up the hull to Military Grade when your bank allows it. The Anaconda is already unwieldy, and lacks in the shielding department. I'll also suggest removing HRP later, so make up the lost hull here.
-Up the life-support to D Grade, it weighs a lot less for a miniscule increase in power.
-Up the sensors to A Grade. Sensor grade determines the max tracking angle of your gimbals/turrents, you're currently using E, so your weapons will only track in a very narrow window.
-Personally I'd flip the 5D HRP with the 3A fuel scoop. 3A will take forever to scoop a star, and the difference between a grade 5 and 3 HRP is rarely used, and when it is, negligible. Trust me, 5A scoop is the minimum on a 32t fuel tank.
-Fit some SCBs (preferable 2x6A). Shields > Hull.
-Dump the KWarrant Scanner, they're not worth carrying. Even if you scan everything you destroy (unlikely unless moded), it will increase your bounty income by 15%, tops. You're currently struggling for power and a KWS uses a stupid amount of it. Also, scanning before destroying gets old, fast.
-With the extra power from removing the KWarrant, up the Shield Boosters to A Grade.
-Dump the Chaff and Point Defense, you're flying the third largest ship in the game, NPCs couldn't miss you if they tried. Missiles do 1/2 damage to shields, and you shouldn't be hanging around once yours go down, a single PD isn't going to save you if you get caught out. It also takes a single PD 20 seconds to destroy one torpedo, so it's not saving you from a gank either.
-Replace the Chaff & PD with another Shield Booster and a Heatsink for your SCBs.
-Replace the Huge PA with an OC Cannon. Cannons do comparable DPS as PAs against heavily engineered ships and tonnes more against unengineered ones. They also use less power / distro, generate less than half the heat and don't cost 90,000 credits to rearm. That being said, PAs are a lot more fun to use.
-Ditch the docking computer, they're an abomination.

Don't try to build an Anaconda capable of everything. When people say it's multi-role they mean that you can build it for multiple roles, not that it can do multiple roles with any given build.

Avoid making it too heavy. D-rate anything that doesn't need to be A. A nice engineering wrinkle is to apply "heavy duty" to a lightweight alloy hull; you get increased strength without any extra weight in that combination.

Here are my Anacondas for two different roles. EDshipyard shows the engineering too:-

1. remove point defence , it is waste of good slot
2. fit at least one , but best 2 class 6 A Shield Cell Banks instead those HRPs .
3. remove chaff , Annie is so big that it is waste of good slot
4. Get single heat sink and add +50% ammo mod to allow you use of those double SCB
5. get bigger fuel scoop , class 5 prefered if you want to move around fast .

You don't need so much hull reinforcment packages , you really don't . With properly engineered shields you are not going to lose them anyways unless you try very hard to lose them. Single class 4 MRP and double HRP is enough just in case something really happends , and to be fair you ar enot going to need them anyways but better safe than sorry .

Now engineering:

1. Bi-weaves to thermal res
2. 3 shield boosters heavy duty
3. 3 shield boosters res augmented

Now you have enough shields to fight anything :p in case of some stronger wings like 2x Annie or Annie + FAS+FGS put some pips to shields instead of engines and you are good . SCB are just in case you do something very very wrong .

D grade sensors and Life support. There is no need for any armor upgrades , just stick to lightweight alloys and make them heavy duty . You will get a bit more integrity but no mass increase
