Anaconda for mining...how much?

I'm not sure why, but I think I want to buy an Anaconda. I'll probably end up using it for mining.

How much budget do I need to buy and equip it sensibly, assuming I'm A-rating the key bits. I'm thinking if I get up to 500,000 Cr then that should leave me enough afterwards for rebuys and cheese.

Thoughts?

generally a mining python is cheaper and will outperform a mining annie, as shown on several mining CGs.

on the other hand, a conda is a great ship to fly.

if you don't want to mine in RES but at someplace in a pristine ring, a mining conda can start around 200 mio, 250 mio.

You know, I'm not sure why a Python didn't occur to me, given that I already fly one.

Thanks for that. Now to play with loadouts...

Mining Python is the way to go IMO.
Had an Anaconda too tried it, was too big for this, too much mining to little patience, could never fill her. Python is about right and it lands on outpostss for selling stuff. The Python is a good miner, expensive, but a capable mostly self sufficient ship. I have a dedicated Python miner miner now.
And I am happy with it :)

Cheers Cmdr's

That's awesome to know. My liquid capital is about 470M Cr, so an Anaconda would leave me gasping, whereas a Python is easy.

Job for the weekend, then :)

Thanks all.

500k Cr won't be enough :D

Yeah sorry. Had to be done... I'll see myself out.

On the way I'd also float a crazy idea about a mining T9 just for the feel of being in a flying space mining brick, not as efficient but depending on who you are it may be more fun. :)

Yeah, I think I left a few zeros off there :) I'm close to 500M Cr.

T9...hmmm....*taps fingers*...nah. I have a soul.

I actually preferred the Corvette to the Conda for mining purposes. I own both and tried them both for this work, and found the Vette to be a better mining platform over all.

The primary advantage to the Conda is additional cargo space, but once they are both outfitted with all the mining gear, that additional storage doesn't amount to all that much more.

Obviously if you can't buy the Corvette right now, the Conda does work well for mining, but if you don't need all the extra cargo space, I agree with others about the Python. It is the easiest ship to work with in tight spaces between rocks. :) Just doesn't hold has much of your materials with all the gear installed.

I usually mine in outside the Bubble, so jump range is a must, therefore the Anaconda was the right tool for the job.
Mine is around the 230M - 300M Cr mark (10% off Jameson M.), Since no A class modules and several are below the module size. I carry 2 5A collector Drones and a 3A prospector. Scanner and DSS, shielded and with a scoop and fully engineered. It is slow and lumbering, but it does the job just right and I can return to civilized space in few jumps.

best bridge in game. if you have never flown it, it's a must. i sometimes buy one just for the bridge (and BGS work)...

Was genuinely on the edge of taking a T9 exploring instead of an iCutter, just because of the canopy.

I used to mine in a Python then decided to upgrade to an Anaconda for the purpose. I found that you can't equip the Python with enough collectors to keep up with 2 x d2 mining lasers and still have much cargo, so more trips back and forth to offload. If you don't mind short mining stints, then the Python certainly works. The Annie did a better job, but to fill it you have to spend a fair bit of time if 3P mining, which can get kind of boring. However I found the Annie too slow to outrun pirates as well, so and ended up using an iClipper Fast enough to outrun pirates, big enough to have enough collectors to keep up, and more cargo than the python but not as much as the Annie, so more efficient and less time to fill (less boring....).
Good luck!

Conda is a nice ship, but has a large backside and those asteroids are close together. Python will do you nicely. Only down side is it can't carry a fighter.

HHmm, I hadn't thought of going back to the Annie and adding a fighter for mining....... Might give that a try after this CG, assuming the next CG is meh.
