Anaconda long distance explorer / miner

I found some good stuff (void opals)

and now I want to go back out with my anaconda and do some mining.
Any good build suggestions?

secondly

I got 20m in discovery data. But that would include the discovery of the void opals.

are they now logged in the background sim and the BGS can start nibbling away at my find?
Are we to keep such things secret?

Always turn in/sell discovery data. If your ship is destroyed you lose discovery data.

A mining Anaconda build depends on your budget and which Engineers you have access to. I prefer a Corvette myself. This build will run fine with no modifications but is a little more efficient with the assigned mods. It has two abrasion blasters which is really unnecessary but two abrasion blasters makes it easy to switch when the first runs out of ammo without having to synthesize more blaster ammo. The build also has no fuel scoop but if you want one, choose which size cargo rack you want to give up and have at it.

There is a cargo capacity vs. risk trade-off with a fuel-scoop. A larger fuel scoop scoops fuel much faster but reduces the amount of ores you can carry, a smaller fuel-scoop increases cargo capacity but increases the time you spend turning laps around a star, scooping fuel with a full load of void opals on board. o7

Swap the multicannons out for mining kit and the shield and cargo rack around and you should be good to go. Don't read the enginnering (or hardpoint) setup too much its not the final.
