Ships Anaconda Maneuverability

For those who are flying an Anaconda, can you tell me how nimble it is compared to the other large ships e.g Python and Type 9?

Currently I am in a type 9 with maneuverability value of 0. It feels very very slow and takes a long time to pitch and roll. Is the anaconda any similar or does it fly almost as good as a Python? I'm aiming for one with C or B thrusters.

It's been awhile since I flew a Python but my Anaconda turns a bit slower than I remember the python doing. As I said it has been awhile. :).

That must have been pre Python nerf. The Conda easily outturns the new Python. It definitely outturns the T9, nothing is worse than the T9 when it comes to maneuverability.

I flew a trade fitted Anaconda for awhile and upgraded the thrusters on it to see how it flew. Pitch, yaw and roll are a lot faster for the Python than you would expect. The problem with the Pythons maneuverability is that it has a high amount of inertia, so even though you can turn faster than you'd expect, bringing your ships actual trajectory to match the orientation of the ship is sluggish. The lower class your thrusters are the more sluggish it feels.

Think of it in terms of flying with flight assist half-off. You still get the drift of FAO, but you don't get the continous movement. In the hands of a tactical and skilled pilot the Anaconda can be a beast because of this.

I fly a Python. It responds to commands much faster than the Anaconda in terms of how long your trajectory changes from command input. The Python also has a much more responsive roll speed which can be very advantageous. If you want a ship that flies better, Python. If you like the to feel the weight of your ship getting thrown around, Anaconda.

After the t9 - the Anaconda feels positively nippy. :)

Agreed. Last night, I traded my T9 with B thrusters for Anaconda with C thrusters. The Anaconda was much more maneuverable than the T9. Trading with the T9 was painfully slow to turn away from a star after dropping out of hyperspace. I can hardly wait to put A thrusters on the Anaconda!

With B thrusters it's not bad in a fight. It's top speed is slow but it turns well. It has a lot of inertia so docking is a but of a challenge. For me the most excruciating thing is supercruise. It turns like a barge in SC. Interdiction becomes a chore.

I couldnt say what a T9 flies like as I have never really enjoyed primarily concentrating on trade, as I had tried with the T7 and T6 earlier in my play of the game. However, I do have an Anaconda and I did have a Python. Although the Python is much slower, I would say it is more akin to a lazy FDL, as nimble, but heavier and much slower like a tank version of an FDL, which the FDL - all despite the drift - feels a lot lighter. The Anaconda actually reminds me of the Fed Drop Ship when it comes to handling, just a little less drift and a hell of a lot of pitch, particularly under reverse thrusters pitching up.

I love the Anaconda, but it is truly a brick in space and the best tank in the game. It does an insurmountable amount of damage compared to the other larger ships, without question. I would try the Drop Ship, if you have the ranking, and that will be very similar to the Anaconda, but you will notice the weight a lot more in the Anaconda. I use my Anaconda for both RES and CZs since I dropped about 475million credits in modules to kit it out for battle. It literally melts everything in its path, but it is without a question a magnet for gun/laser fire in a CZ, so make sure you have really powerful shields and a lot of Chaffs (even though for the most part the smaller and medium ships tend to use fixed weapons in CZs).

I will tell you that flying around in an Anaconda for battle will make you more proficient with smaller fighters. I spent a good month in my Anaconda grinding out a Post Captain status with the Federation. I recently went back to the FDL tonight, and now I am a champ with the forward, reverse thrusters and handling. Go figure. I guess if you have to get a rhythm to combat with the Anaconda, and you get efficient with one, it will afford you more proficiency by leaps and bounds when you migrate back to a smaller fighter, medium or otherwise. If you have a permit for Founder's World, you can save a good 8 to 10 percent on the ship and modules. I kitted out a 475million credit Anaconda for about 410-420 million, roughly... I know that it doesn't calculate exactly to the 8-10%, but I am only saying that percentage because I recall that specific discount rate from other posts I have read. Clearly, if I saved 55-65 million, that is greater than 8-10%, I am just not sure how the deductions work with the modules when it comes to the savings.

Enjoy the ship and fly safe Commander.

Do you mean interdicting or getting interdicted?
