Anaconda Mk II?

With the Panther Clipper finally launching today (HOORAY!!) we've still got two more new ships to come this year, so which do you think they'll be?

I think that with the ARX increase it'll be a large ship, as Frontier won't want to leave the Clipper all in that category by its own. Of the large ships in the game that could be updated, I think the one the player base would be the most happy for will definitely be the Anaconda. An updated Anaconda could make long-range single-ship exploration exciting again

What do you all think will come next, or are you just happy to wait and see?

I'm mostly wait and see. The only thing really missing in the lineup is a medium pad ship from Saud Kruger that can use luxury cabins, but they've said the medium lineup is done for now. I'm kinda expecting a new large combat ship, maybe a proper large explorer.

Combat is mega popular, so a big combat ship like Corvette II (but not locked behind progression), would really do good sales..

Since exobiology is the way to make credits out in the black the Anaconda has dropped off a bit as an exploration platform of choice. If their aim is profit then it's likely not a good option, the Mandalay will remain more popular. 1-2 new Large combat ships seems likely and the Anaconda 2 could be one of them leaving room in the future for a corvette or cutter mk2 to overshadow it as a combat ship. That seems like a logical progression give it 600 -800t cargo and a long jump range with a decent weapon loadout it'd have a place for a long time.

I'm expecting something from Core Dynamics. We've had 2 ships from Delacy (independent), 2 from Zorgon-Peterson (indie), 1 from Gutamaya (Imperial) and 1 from Lakon (Alliance) so it's only the Feds that are missing out. Although a proper large Alliance combat ship would also be a possibility. Still, I think Federal Frigate makes the most sense. 2 huge, 2 large, 3 medium hardpoints; 8 or 10 utility slots; core and optional slots as in the Corvette (or maybe class 8 thrusters and 3 or 4 class 5 military slots).

Yeah, but it's still different. And by the way; I've said from the beginning the V looks like the Cobra III and Viper IV had a giant baby!

2) Multi-Role

I'd like to see the first off-the-shelf 100Ly jump ship.

i would like something combat based but with an SLF...... something i can tank up enough to trust my npc to fly leaving me to use the SLF.
I would also like them to stick with canon ships in the game if possible.

Boa class cruiser perhaps?

mind you in the grand scheme of things this would probably be a medium ship if my Elite canon is correct, similar in size to a python.

my current ship for this is a FGS (i built this pre krait and my Krait MK2 is for Thargoid work) however its not really tanky enough to trust my npc in, and well.......... i guess i have just spent a lot of time in her anyway and ready for a change.

maybe i should just rebuild my old anaconda for this task!...................

this could then be the Boa... but i am not sure FD will want to directly compete with another of their new ships... of course they are gonna have too sooner rather than later as there are only so many niches in elite and with optional outfitting every ship is a multirole to some degree.

and this is why i dont think we will get an anaconda mk2.
because if its feather light like the 1st one people (like myself) will moan that its totally out of keeping with all the other ships

but if it has the mass it should have (not sure if true but i have read the anaconda hull mass was a typo) but if it has the mass it should have then others would moan its an inferior ship to the mk1.

better imo just to keep that ship as a unicorn and blame it on the age of the ship and it not having armour befitting of a modern ship (if it were me i would get the conda back in line by dividing its standard supplied armour rathing by 10..... make the paper light ship a paper strength ship......

once the conda has proper upgraded armour on it it is a lot more consistent with the rest of the ships.

Of course the Anaconda MK II could be a totally different kind of ship, just like the Python I is multirole and the Python II is combat.
