Ships Anaconda or Cutter for a multirole ship?

Having mined for a while i have about a billion to spend! So i'm thinking of getting a big multirole ship, to load up with everything, etc. Kind of a big version of my multirole Python. Right now i have an Anaconda as an exploration vessel, and a Cutter as an armed trader, and really enjoy both of them. But have never used either of them for multirole. So, opinions, pros and cons, comparisons for these two? Thanks!

The day of "multi-role" is pretty much over.

I usually build for a specific role and use it for it's intended purpose.

That said, the Anaconda is very versatile in the same way the Python is. It's the best for passenger missions when doing bulk transport missions.

The Krait MKII is also quite versatile.

The Orca is a hoot to fly and can be an excellent exploration ship as well as a great VIP Passenger runner.

At this point, not knowing exactly what you already have, I'd recommend that you decide what it is you want to do and then build a ship that does what you want to do.

I spend a lot of time in my iCourier these days...

Go figger

I built a multirole Python for BGS work.
Eventually i ended up swapping modules to make it more efficient at hauling or combat or grabbing stuff from various NPC's that weren't quite happy to part with their belongings.

I have all ships in the game, i usually like to dedicate each one to a partcular role. For example i have a beluga and a dolphin parked in Robigo, and another dolphin in the bubble, all for passenger missions. A lot of exploration vessels, anaconda, asp explorer, orca, clipper, krait mk2. One of each fighters, 2 Corvettes (one has a billion+ bounty on it..), T10 for mining, a python for core mining, T9 and a Cutter for trading, a Krait for Thargoids. Small multiroles, the biggest being a Python,. etc

So now its between these two, a second Anaconda or a second Cutter. Load it up with cargo space, couple of cabins, inderdictor, lots of guns, an srv, and just go around the bubble doing whatever with a single ship, big style! :) The Cutter seems the more logical choice, but people are always saying the Anaconda is the best multirole ship in the game...

I think you may be misinterpreting the meaning of the phrase "multi-role". To get the most out of a multi-purpose ship, you outfit the ship to do a job and then, when that job is finished you refit the ship to perform a different job. That is what is meant by "multi-role". A multi-purpose ship is not a Swiss-Army knife with 10 blades that can be snapped out as needed and trying to build too much different capability into a single ship will introduce compromises into the outfitting that will negatively impact the ability of the ship to do any single job at peak performance. A multi-purpose ship is more like a single-bladed knife, a knife with a single, removable blade that can be switched out for another blade as needed. A spoon one day, a chopper the next and so on.

There is some overlap of course. A ship outfitted for combat, with a few small changes will mostly be already setup up pretty well for bounty hunting and with a couple more changes, for piracy. A ship setup for mining can be quickly refitted for cargo or passenger hauling but, trying to be both a pirate and a miner (for instance) is not an optimal outfit.

That being said, between the Cutter and Anaconda, while the Cutter is slightly larger, the Anaconda IMO is the more role-flexible ship. o7

Go with the ship with the flight characteristics and cockpit view you like most.
Im really not a big fan of the Cutter. 🤷‍♀️

Easy: use a Corvette.

I haven't flown one, but isn't the jump range a fair way short of the Anaconda?

OP having tried both Anaconda and Cutter, I'd go Anaconda (my current main ship). Just like it more. But as someone else said - you're going to be spending a fair bit of time in it, so just take the view/characteristics you prefer. They're both very flexible, capable ships.

Federal Corvette, slap class 5 FSB booster et voila and you will have a large multirole ship with a claw. A ship that moves like a dancer, is both well protected and well shielded and packs a punch if necessary. For purely trading purposes she will require three class 7 cargo racks giving you almost 400 tonnes of cargo space - you will never have these features in the Anaconda.

Between Anaconda and Cutter I would choose the Cutter. The higher payload, extra speed, and higher shield strength give it the edge.
I use one of mine as cargo/miner/mission runner, the only things I need to change are cargo racks for mining equipment. I sometimes even do the base scan, raid missions in it.
I have a friend who uses a T-10 as multi-role. He put everything in it, and it still kicks butt in CZs.

I prefer the Corvette for my big multirole. The 30ly jump I get on it isn't bad at all, and it handles so much nicer than the Anaconda or T-10. I dislike the Empire, so the Cutter's a no-go for me.

Absolutely Anaconda of course :) Here is the basis of my Python multirole:
I switch around with those shield reinforcements as needed to make space for what ever I need at the time. Anaconda multirole would use pretty similar design approach, but there is just much more room to maneuver with it.
