Anaconda Takedown!

Hello fellow Commanders.

So last night I was doing a bit of bounty hunting and missions. Not much happening everyone I scanned was clean and I was started to get annoyed :mad: I went to LP98-132 and visited the extraction site to see who was about and I spotted this Anaconda that was wanted. I thought to myself do I feel lucky... So out of interest I scanned him and to my surprise he was wanted for 49,000Cr. I followed the NPC for a bit and decided to go in for the kill. Oh in case you are asking yourself what ship is he using, I'm in a Cobra with X2 C2 Multi Cannons (Gimballed) with X2 C1 Pulse Lasers (Gimballed). I stayed behind him and started my attack run. To my surprise I managed to take him out without any damage to my ship and not one shot fired from him. One of the easiest fights I've encountered so far and my credit balance is looking better for it too :D

Pleased for you that you got the kill, but not pleased that you didnt get any damage, surely shouldnt be that easy?

That's what I thought, I tried to take on another Anaconda who did decide to fire on me and I nearly lost my ship. Lucky escape :)

I had an Anaconda like that once.
I think the poor NPC was sat there, getting fired upon and panicking as he tried to remember which flippin' keys he bound to the combat and defensive functions, heh heh!!

Cool trick for EZ-Mode wanted Anaconda kills: Wait for the feds to take it down a peg or two first, then in the last few % lay the hammer on it, making sure you dont suddenly run out of ammo/energy at the last second.

Fast firing weapons are ideal here, specifically since your going after the last hit. This method works great for 3 reasons.

1) You use minimal resources to achieve victory.

2) Since your not fighting, your at minimal risk.

3) While the feds are fighting the Anaconda, it'll be slaughtering them left and right, racking up its bounty even further. I've seen them add as much as 20k before the Anaconda is ready for you to KS.

I've got an Eagle with three pulse lasers, I stripped the shields off an Anaconda and started chipping at his hull, you can really climb up their a**e and stick there, but it did something, I'm not sure what, a kind of boost-pivot that had it turn 180" in a very short distance, a single volley got my hull to 69%, I bugged out at that point because I am poor. My thinking is two eagles will fupp one up.

Call me a noob but how do you find out how much they are wanted for?

Oh god, i had that after playing DCS the whole night. Wen i decided to try Elite in the morning again i was confused and didn't knew what to press :D

Call me a noob but how do you find out how much they are wanted for?

Lock him, let it scan then go to the left panel, go to contacts, select him and you can see the reward

I was minding my own business near a nav beacon in a tricked out Eagle with military grade hull and full shields, when a system authority Anaconda took a dislike to my presence, and opened up with what looked like 4x beam lasers. TBH I didn't get a very good look, because as soon as one of the beams touched me I was instantly vaporised !

Police brutality !

It was an anarchy system where he was fighting the anaconda and there is no police is there? Its a good tactic you described but anaconda's in policed extraction zones are kind of rare.

Thanks, I knew you scan them for wanted, just didn't know it shown the reward.

well i just got one myself 30 minutes ago, i have a viper with 2x gimballed pulse lasers and 2 x seeking missile racks, k-scanner and military grade armour...12 missiles took the conda to 40 % the rest was done with the pulse lasers (they need to boost the damage on those missiles! hahah)

i saw a 60.000 bounty cr earned on the top right and i was really happy, but upon arrival i got only 6.000 :/

and it cost me 18.000 to refill :/ at least it was a fun fight, i managed to survive the encounter with no damage taken to the hull whatsoever

is this normal that the bounties bug out like that?

Sometimes they act cowardly. I dont know what the AI "thinks". Sometimes they start like a coward, then suddenly pwning you with überdamage. And sometimes they start to pwn you till one of you die. In this game, looks like ai is not always the same.

i got such bounty too, then i reallized it was imperial bounty, not federal. i tought i lost that money lol
