Anaconda Trader

I'm getting close to being able to purchase the Anaconda, currently at 124m in assets. I've been flying the Type 9, not really enjoying it as a Trader, compared to the previous ships like the Type 7 and Python, it's too slow, has a crappy jump range etc.

I've got a couple questions for anyone who's been using the Anaconda as a trade ship.

What's the default jump range, laden, with max cargo + shields? And how much is a good FSD, not the best per se, but one has decent jump range. Previous ships the good ones cost around 5-6 million. T9, the best one is around 20m.

How much will I need to upgrade it to a Freighter style ship, max cargo, good jump range, decent FSD, insurance + cargo purchase? My guesstimate is around 170m. Am I correct in thinking that should do it?

The FSD is 16 million, everything else you can use 'cheap' D equipment to maximize jumprange. I don't remember but default jump range but with the A you get ~20ly with a full cargo hold (with or without shield since it weighs about the same as the cargo you give up). Say you need initial cost + 25 for upgrades + 6 for insurance + 5 for a full hold of expensive goods... 180 or so?

Looks like it might use the same FSD as the Type 9. I get no benefit from going to the best FSD on the Type 9, as the route I run will require the same amount of jumps with either.

I figured you could buy the 5-6 million FSD's for the Anaconda as well, looks like it has a decent jump range with one of those.

With the A unit it'll do 18LY with 452 tons :)

That would be nice. Would cut my trade route down to one jump.
That's the huge bonus she has... although she can't quite carry as much as the LT9, she can carry it a lot faster and further. Which makes up for the slightly smaller hold size. Which means you can (in most cases) make credits faster and more efficiently than with the LT9. Plus it can defend itself a wee bit better :)

My current high speed lightweight trading rig - 160 million.

Its got a baby shield for docking scratches and a baby power plant to keep the weight down.

You can squeeze more tonnage if you use a smaller scoop but i like my Class 6 scoops too much.

Congrats on getting enough money, whats your goal after you fly it for a few hours? Its not like you need more money for anything, unless you want a second anaconda :)

to get a ship maxed out a good rule of thumb is 4x is value, the conda can cary nearly 350 tons of cargo with shields so u will need alot for it, for combat the python is better from experience ( i have had and used both, curently in the python)

For me I have no goal, I just enjoy trading, I like seeing the credits go up. I'm entrepreneur and may go for elite with trading and then maybe try getting to elite for combat.

I still enjoy it and have no plans to stop once I get it :)

Since we can own multiple ships there's no reason to stop earning, and Anaconda is the best earner. I still want to kit out an Orca and a Clipper. When more ships get added - the Courier and probably replace the Conda with a Panther. When Thargoids are added I might want to kit out a Python again (or whatever ship is the strongest by then) for more difficult combat situations without having to trade in my favorite leisure ship. I can think of many "goals" :p

It takes a few quid to turn it into a combat ready ship...

Well I'm sure it takes many times the ships value to outfit it, not sure what you plan on fighting with it though.

Why not go for elite combat right now? I just thought someone like youself might prefer if they could buy a station or have something even bigger to strive for. At the moment the Anaconda is the most expensive thing.

Isn't a type 9 more profitable to trade with than an anaconda?

The Class 6A FSD is 16 million, C6D is 600k, C6B is 5.3 million.

Cargo Racks:

C7 = 1.1 million.
C6 = 362k
C5 = 111k
C4 = 34k

My current insurance is 8.7 mil, but I think you can get the about same range with 6 mil rebuy cost.

No, it's slower, lower jump range, and higher fuel cost/scoop time. Not to mention you never get interdicted in the Conda. A route that takes 15 minutes in a T9 takes 10-11 in the Conda, 10-20% more cargo can't make up that difference.
