Anaconda with Jump min / current / max : 55.57 / 55.57 / 57.68LY can't reach approx 26,000 LY ?

Plotting approx 16,000LY was fine.

But unable to plot 26,000LY :
Plot route unavailable (Maximum distance exceeded).

Do you still accept this mission by plotting halfway - upon reaching halfway, plot final destination again ?

20,000 is the absolute maximum.
There are ways to get round it, using EDSM for instance. WHat I do in such a circumstance is in EDSM, set jump range to 19,999LY and plot a route to anywhere in the galaxy. The "jumps" it suggests, then become my waypoints for plotting my route in game. Once I am within 20,000 of destination, I replot.

Downsides of this are that it could drop one into a brown dwarf region where fuel scooping is a problem, so use with care.

Considering it used to max out around 1000LY, 20k is great (if painful waiting). Use something like EDSM and (if you're brave), the Neutrons via Spansh (both external sites) to plot past the 20k. If you know where you're going, it doesn't hurt to do it in chunks anyway.

You have to apply a bit of thoughtfulness.

Plotting looooong routes means there's a chance that the route-plotter might encounter something that it can't overcome - either a permit-locked region, a region filled with unscoopable stars or an area that is a "dead end" and requires significant back-tracking to negotiate.

Sometimes you just have to go "old school", look at the galmap, decide whether a route is viable and then plot a suitable route in stages.
Figuring out how to get where you're going is part of the challenge of exploration and shouldn't be a fully automated process.

If you're embarking on an expedition to, say, find the source of the Nile or negotiate the Northwest Passage, there should be more to it than simply plugging a destination into your GPS.

Thanks!

I'm going to try this approach -
Mission #1 : first by plotting to Gandharvi, approx 16,000 LY (gone there before).
Mission #2 : continuing to somewhere in Sagittarious A, approx 26,000 LY

Hopefully can be done.

Should work fine as by the time you'e near Gandharvi you'll be under 20kly from Sag A. As mentioned permit locked regions are the main cause of plotting fails <20kly, and always beware of dead space (no scoopables) which you may need to manually navigate through.

Before plotting always check your filter too, most people use star class and only select KGBFOAM star types so you'll nearly always have a scoopable star every jump. Again, this isn't infallible, and if you've gone 2 jumps w/o refuelling it's worth stopping and check galaxy map to see when the next fuel star will be and if you need to manually find one before continuing onwards.

If you're taking on missions to travel to SagA, you can pretty-much just head straight there from the bubble.

Just look at the galmap, scroll the grid ~9000Ly toward SagA, zoom-in, click a system and then plot a route.

It's actually easier to fly straight to SagA than to follow the "waypoints" toward Colonia (Rohini, Gandharvi & Kashyapa) cos there's a nasty patch of unscoopable systems between Rohini and Gandharvi.
If you want to visit those systems, it's not a huge deal but you should be prepared to ignore your route and go and find a fuel-star when/if your fuel starts to run low.

This!
Yes max is 20 k.
You can set a bookmark to leave a breadcrumb trail for way back.

Good luck.

*Extra tip:. If you're only going to be flying for an hour or so you can select a smaller distance aiming in roughly the right direction, say 5kly, as it'll speed up route plotting a lot. Target your end destination then zoom out and select somewhere random along that course, great for smaller sessions.

See, this is something I wish FDev would address.

We could really use some kind of "Reserve Fuel" warning on our ships.
They wouldn't even need to change the way route-plotting actually works.
Just set it up so there's a Reserve Fuel Slider, which you could set to, say, 25% and then your plotted route would show you a marker at the system where you hit "Reserve" so you could zoom in on the region and check if there's a fuel-star nearby.
There could also be an audio-warning which says something like "Caution - reserve fuel level reached" when you arrive in the marked system.

When I'm plotting routes I never rely on the route-plotter to find fuel-stars.
When I get to less than quarter of a tank, it's time to go looking for a fuel-star.

The route plotter has it's limitations. They are currently:
  • 20000ly when using "fastest route"
  • 1000ly when using "economic route" (if I remember correctly).

This is a good tip too.

Plot a 20KLy route and following it can feel like torture.

If you've got a 50Ly ship, you're unlikely to get into serious trouble easily (and if you do, it'll probably make for some engaging gameplay to get yourself out of trouble) so simply plotting shorter routes, in roughly the right direction, is a good way to remove the monotony.

I tend to plot routes of around 5KLy and then make a point of fully exploring the destination system, as well as honking and then checking out any system that has more than half a dozen bodies within it.

You can get from Colonia to Sag A* in 49 hops.
