Anaconda's docking bay

So, as we know FD said that Anaconda have a docking bay somehow, and me and a friend was talking about the Condor, that we will be able to fly one but its kinda pointless to use a ship that cant jump, have low armor/shild and low dps (I know that condors are suposed to be strong in number, but again, why not use a SW instead [for players])
But then, if you could fit 3 condors in the anaconda docking bay (controlled by players or NPC w/e) then, the condor would have a good use, since the anaconda have a great jump range, and if in danger can release the condors (Condors dont have FSD > Hyperspace Capability )

What you guys think about? (my bad if there are others thread about that)

Edit1: u > you
Edit2: Sry, the Condor may have a FSD (to go into cruise mode or w/e) but can not jump to another system (no Hyperspace Capability)

..... there's ships without FSD? I think that unless there is a carrier ship to haul them somewhere they would be 100% useless. That is what I think.

Also I think I can't give you any rep because your unwilling to type 2 more letters to make U a real word. (your too late if you edit it, you had your chance!)

I would love to take one along on a long range exploration mission in an Anaconda. The visibility in an Anaconda sucks. It would make more sense to park it into orbit while lightly fuel scooping the star, and take a condor out to explore the system. That would make exploration a lot more fun. Equip the Condor with a fix it beam to patch up the hull and clean the windshield.
To make it worthwhile (instead of simply taking the main ship) give the condor an advantage in super cruise, faster acceleration and deceleration.
It needs to be very light though. A D-rated Sidewinder with discovery and surface scanner is 34.8t. That would drop the range by 2.4ly, still possible to out jump the Asp Explorer. Definitely worth it if a condor gets an advantage in intra system travel

Yeah, the condor dont have Hyperspace Capability ( http://elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/F63_Condor ) but in the wiki have this "The Condor is currently not flyable by players, but it is believed that it will become a flyable ship at some point in the game's future."
My point was, why whould YOU fly it then? unless you could fit 3 condors inside the anaconda

Not a bad idea, make the condor like a interceptor, thats also a good point
Like, one player use the condor to intercept the target and hold it untill backup arrives

Having the Condor as a deployable ship may relate with future gameplay mechanics which will come with expansions. For example:

With the walking expansion: have one friend come aboard, you pilot the Conda, he pilots the Condor in combat
With the planetary landing expansion: park the Conda in orbit, explore the surface in the Condor

You may also use the Condor to dock at outposts. Maybe there will be other mission types which require a small ship to complete (for example having to build a stealth Condor with minimal signature).

I don't think we're gonna see this mechanic implemented any time soon though.

I think it has been said before, no condor will be playable. the Anaconda was meant to carry sidewinders. beside who want's a Condor they are paper thin and many don't even have the ability for shields and no they don't have an FSD, the odd one does have a shield but i have only seen those in the training missions.

From the ship purchase screen

"The Anaconda is the pride of Faulcon deLacy's ship yards. The design was first manufactured in 2856 by RimLiner Galactic. After numerous mergers the template was eventually owned by Faulcon deLacy, who have made only minor changes to the classic design. The Anaconda is a versatile craft that can transport large cargos as well as pack a decent punch. Some smaller navies use the Anaconda in the light cruiser and frigate roles. The Anaconda can also be upgraded with a docking bay allowing small fighters up to Sidewinder size to be carried and launched."

"fighters up to Sidewinder size" Room for interpretation there, but I'm pretty sure they said no to condor.

Think you are ignoring a key part of that text 'The Anaconda can also be upgraded with a docking bay allowing small fighters up to Sidewinder size to be carried and launched.

Anyway who needs shields on a scout ship, especially when exploring. I'm in my Anaconda at VY Canis Majoris, shields and most other modules are offline to keep heat down, don't need shields out here. Would be great to jump into a Condor and cruise round the system

Totally agree with you commander...

I've made a relative post a week ago or smthg concerning "pending" things of current ships here:

Hehe, yes true, although I hope we get to choose something other than a sidewinder. Great starting ship, has a nice starter beat up feel but looks like junk in the DK2. When I leave the bridge of my Anaconda I want to jump into a nice modern cockpit like the Eagle.

Oh I agree entirely the more ships we have and the variety of them will only make it better, I will defiantly try a Condor IF it was to be added, however it's about 500 meters too small for me and spelled wrong. "Ana-condor" :)

Well, what other ship beside SW then?
Also, I did not know that FD said "no" to Condor, since the wiki say "yes", also, lets say that the Anaconda can carry up to 1 SW or 3 Condors, so in that case, the 3 condors would be a better option (to take down small/fast enemys while the Anaconda take down big ones) this was an example ofc

There is the imperial fighter too (much like a condor) . Love the idea that this might get put in. I'd have thought their primary role in life should be keeping stuff off the butt of the annaconda.

My point, SW is better ofc, but 3 condors can make more than 1 SW, "keeping stuff off the butt"

Makes sense to me .. have a faction choice ... Condor or the Imperial Midget (whatever that diddy ship is).

A tiny docking bay appeared at 0:49 in the GDC trailer, does that mean its been included with the wings update?

At least I think that was an Anaconda launching the other ship.
