analog vert thrust problems

This game drives me insane sometimes.
I map a X55 thumb dial for vertical thrust axis.
Set dead zone about 1/3 full, just in case.
Works fine for the first day, even with multiple log ins and outs.
Without fail, the next day when I try to leave a station, any station, as soon as I hit the forward throttle, the ship thrusts upwards as well.
Back to options, clear vertical thrust axis.
A good tool for landing on high g worlds made useless.

I have digital vertical thrust for normal manoeuvring, analog for high g worlds. You can set the analog in 'Flight landing overides' or more recently under 'Alternate flight controls'

Makes life a lot easier and gives you more options.

It is the most useless item on my X55, that and the throttle wiring which will eventually break, trust me.

I recommend a CH Products Pro-Throttle. No flashy lights, switches or metal trim - just hard plastic with enough buttons/hats and solid internals. And a great analogue thumb stick for translational thruster control. And these things last for many years. I've had the same set-up since 2013 and I expect at least another five years of use, probably more.

Sadly CH support for replacement parts is fast getting non existent for owners not living in North America.

Nice one, cheers. I see they ship to Australia should I ever need them. Happily in five years I've not needed to replace parts. In fact if I did in future I'd be tempted to just bite the bullet and replace the entire unit. But it's always good to have options.

:)

Same as you - 10 year old stick needed new pots (CH gave me the link) but in the end just bought a new stick as the gimbals were a bit worn and a hat was starting to go too. On my third stick and 2nd
throttle now over 20 years.

I'm using a Thrustmaster throttle and it has an analogue stick on the back of the throttle (index finger) for thrusters, don't seem to get any problems - although analogue does give you a bit of drift if you're not accurate, tapping digital controls almost always seems easier.
