Anarchy controlled systems

Hi all, I've come to pick your brains. So I'm pretty confident in my knowledge of how the BGS works except when it comes to anarchy controlled systems.

So firstly I heard it mentioned that trading to blackmarkets in 3.0 increases the influence of the anarchy faction in that system, does anyone know if this is true?
Next can states such as civil unrest be initiated in anarchy systems as there is already no system security?

Civil unrest is bitten us in previous bgs wars due to doubling the effect of bounties handed in and spawning donation missions, I'd like to avoid that again.
 
Any port controlled by an Anarchy with an active Black Market will have all the profits from that be beneficial to the Anarchy faction.
They don't technically need to control the system to benefit, just be the owners of the port with a Black Market.

Civil Unrest can be instigated by any number of means.
Murder of Clean ships in Anarchy still works, but you need to kill a ship without a bounty - you just won't be hit with your own bounty while doing it.
It can also be instigated depending on traded goods or other mission effects performed against the faction in question.

The only way I can think of it avoid that is to do missions that have the benefit of reducing Civil Unrest risk, tourism passenger missions comes to mind relating to that.
It may be possible trade of certain goods can help, like Reactive Armour or Non-Lethal weapons, but I am unsure of that.

That old chestnut is very much like the "trading biowaste to increase outbreak" claims^. Doing *missions* to deliver weapons will definitely reduce the chance of civil unrest though (just like how biowaste trade *missions* increase outbreak chance)

^ which, fwiw I think is not true; I don't think any commodity market trading leads to anything except Boom, though I can't prove that, and I certainly maintain an open mind on the issue, just my current posture. The one theory I've heard is that the Boom effect outweighs the others, and every time boom kicks the other state buckets empty. I'm not convinced, but I've heard that.

It does. I can usually cause a Civil Unrest from smuggling Landmines and Personal Weapons into a port when I work on a retreat, so the inverse should be doable - but I don't have much proof of what causes what for everything.

Some things are pretty consistent, such as trading medicines to prevent or halt an Outbreak, or trading foodstuffs to do the same for Famine.

But other things are a bit more obscure.

Emphasis here on smuggling. I refer explicitly to legal trading on the commodities market. As an example, I trade biowaste in larget commodities to agricultural markets frequently, and have never observed an outbreak following.

Even if you extend the mission effects (i.e legal shipping of Biowaste causing outbreak) to the cause of various states, the legal shipping of battle/personal weapons *reduces* the likelihood of civil unrest, not causes it.

This is a case where smuggling missions have a different effect to regular trade - but even then, weapon smuggling missions increase *lockdown*, not civil unrest.
