Anarchy Systems, an untouched potential?

Anarchy systems are a lovely foundation for allowing the feature of player take overs.....what would create some good emergent gameplay is putting some high end resources in Anarchy systems which are NEAR to populated faction controlled space, and then having groups of inclined open play pvp types vie for control of those resources :)

This would make battlegrounds in systems which are not really so important to people who don't want to participate and not interfere with their gameplay experience at all. Whereas the pvp groups out there who enjoy open play and wings, would get a real kick out of it.

Any expansion on the idea?

Good start...

I'd go a little further and let groups build stations. System starts out as independent or defacto part of which ever empire is closest or sends troops - uhhh - I mean peace keepers. As time grows on and the stations grow and become trading posts, gain shipyards etc the system can become its own faction.

And then start conquering the neighboring systems thru hook or crook, diplomacy or force of arms.

Now that would be totally cool!

I agree - there's a strange aspect to Elite Dangerous gameplay that only one new station should be built in the entire galaxy, and you need several hundred players grinding away to do it. With 400 billion star systems you would think allowing a single player (or group) to build a station would not be that big a deal.

Not going to happen. DB has already said as much. The same with Faction / Guilds. The only Faction / Guilds will be NPC controlled or Externally organised player factions (see Mobius).

For some reason Frontier thinks that it will upset the balance in the force...or something. Great idea though. You might want to check the DDF Archives to see if has been discussed. No doubt it has and was not included for x or y reason.

Unless you can convince FD to change the p2p nature of the game this wont work, in the words of Scotty ' The Engine Canna take it'
With 32 max instance and other modes you currently could not defend a player outpost.

I think the idea will be that stations building will end up being generated by the background sim, when a system reaches a point of expansion (or whatever). At present, I'm pretty sure it's manually controlled, but I suspect the long term goal is for it to be spontaneously generated once certain conditions are met.

Or so I hope...
