Ancient Ruins

Hi all I saw a thread and he was asking why don't players go in open play. Well I took my nice new conda out to see the Ruins and yes I did find it landed my ship got out me buggy and was having a good look around at the when blow me down along comes some head in a corvett and starts to blow up the ships on the ground don't know his name but I could give him one so now I got no ship and just sitting there in my buggy wondering wot to done only thing to do was blow me self up and that was that ship gone cash gone and you wonder why players don't go into open play when you get players like that I was clean by the way no cargo on board the ship they should make players pay for the new ship out of there cash to put them off from spoiling other player fun WOT DO U THINK

Consider dismissing your ship as soon as you deploy the SRV.

If there's any location which is a) interesting and/or profitable and b) widely known to players, it's dangerous.

These people are quite limited and predictable: whichever sites are in the news, they go to. CGs, alien wrecks, ruins, Engineer bases, whatever. If there's something that other people might like to visit or profit by, they camp there, and they move on when something new and interesting hits the headlines to try and grief there instead. Yawntastic. :)

Yeah, due to this if I find anything really interesting I am keeping location to myself and friends until we have done everything we want to with it!

I always fly in fleetcomm...Considering I never fly in a ship that has weapons (I am really useless at combat even if I did), and often I am in a shieldless sidey.

And then you have those that take enjoyment at spoiling other people's fun. Life is too short to deal with people like that so I avoid them like the plague.

Sorry for you loss.

If I ever find something interesting you are one of the first on my list Frawd, along with some others from the geyser and fumarole thread, us ethical and friendly players gotta stick together.

I'd love to see some sort of karma system implemented. No doubt it's been suggested before, but it'd be an awesome mechanic to have.

Check combat log, thumb the pilot down. If enough people do it, they automatically show up as red on your radar, plus other nasty downsides. Maybe even banish them to private if they get too many negative votes.

Until Frontier impliments a realistic system to tackle this problem, something like a karma system (without the religious fluff) where blowing innocent people up will punish you in the long run, I suggest you play in the private group called Mobius. In my first months in the game I always played in Open and it was fine, but something happened…

Here's to a quick recovery! *raises mug*

My problem is actually the opposite. I've been playing the game for 7 months and I've only ever had two interactions with other commanders in the game. I live in a very lonely timezone. :(

Well I may go and have a look at the new discoveries in my python see if I can find any of this griefing scum to kill.
Ah yes they used to hang around home systems for powers until the security was sorted out in the game.

[snark] I am sure that this kind of positive player experience really encourages game sales. Good job Frontier. [/snark]

This is a product sold for a profit, why has nothing been done about this issue? Something should be done about this "minority of gamers that are griefers" without delay. Immediately. Now. ASAP. Post haste. Pronto. STAT.

what time zone are you in Cmdr? I am +8 GMT (which is also a very lonely timezone but I see quite a few people).

I was flying in Fleetcom when I went to the ruins, and the worst thing that happened is another Commander, in an Asp didn't reply to my chatting to him.
Not a big deal. It's easy to miss!

But if in doubt go Private Group, or Solo.
