Ancient Ruins

I learned that the Ancient Ruins mission got fixed, and can now be completed. So thought: Yeah, lets do this! And i went to Meene, docked, and got the message with the mission. Great. But what now? It says i should explore as many ancient ruins as i can and use some decoder software the guy uploaded without permission to my ship (thanks!). But where do i find these ruins. I checked the message, i checked GalNet, i checked my materials and data (maybe his software shows up there with a destination), i checked the local system map and all Landfall planets for markers. Nothing.

So my question is: How am i supposed to proceed? Sure, i can google. But how am i supposed to proceed IN GAME? I don't want to google the solution and stupidly follow it step by step. I wanted to at least start playing the game, figuring it out on my own. There has to be a hint in game where to find these ruins, right?

The relevant gal net article is now 6 months old? At least, probably even more than that. Does the game even show gal net articles that are that old? Like many have said this alien and story content is mostly just wasted work for frontier as their value is lost in weeks or at least after month. New players etc can't do them because those are impossible to do/experience without our friend google. They should deliver stuff that isn't time exclusive.

Oh man. That's what i thought. Does anyone know where the GalNet article pointed to?
All i have seen about this looks really cool, and maybe i even learn something. In any case that the kind of exploration activity i think is really good, and by the looks of it lots of effort was put into this by FD.

SO WHY MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO EXPERIENCE WITHOUT GOOGLE?

Edit: For god sake, you could just have implemented a browser in game, if you are too lazy to make a proper quest. Like: Here is your mission, here is a clue, figure it out and find the next clue. But what do you do? Here is a mission. Now search for a clue. There are just 400 billion star systems with 10^123876 landfall planets in real size, try to find something resembling a "ancient ruin". Oh btw, you have four weeks for solve the big mystery.

After twice attempting this back when it was bugged and nearly ending up kicking my screen in the second time, Ram Tah can swivel if he thinks I'm bothering with it again. I will praise FDev when they do stuff well (haven't been to one of the new Thargoid sites yet because I'm 25k out from the bubble but they look amazing) but this, well it was more like:

Yeah without jumping to Google, you're in for some work. The Galnet article linked by gazelle gives the starter systems.

As the game progressed and the first user turned in the full 101 data scans, Ram Tah (=Frontier) then upgraded everyone's ship scanners to find any ruin sites upon arriving in a system (may need to honk the discovery scanner, I forget). They'll show up in the Nav screen so you can fly straight to them, instead of manually scouring every single planet.

First though, you need to find the right systems..., by basically checking systems at random in that vicinity and looking for a ruins site in the Nav panel.

When this mission first came around I did a few scans and turned it in, got like 10 mil or so from it. Can I go back and pick it up again or am I out of luck.

Hello Commanders:

To do the Ancient Ruins, follow this very brief guide.

1. Go to Felice Dock in the Meene system. Once you land, Ram Tah will send the mission to you. You do NOT need to have unlocked Ram Tah beforehand.

2. Read the Wiki so that you understand what it is you are supposed to be doing --> http://elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/Ancient_Ruins

3. Those wonderful people at Canonn have compiled at list of the Ancient Ruins sites --> https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1uVmIjZMYC0DOjHYgWsuvJefdocLK-7iZl1Q81JlQ3es/edit#gid=0

4. Each successful scan of an obelisk nets you 1,000,000 credits. When you have scanned all 101, Ram Tah sends you a message informing you that you have completed the mission and receive a 100,000,000 Credit bonus making 201 million credits in all. Go back to Felice Dock in Meene and hand the mission in.

It is not difficult but it is time consuming. You spend a lot of time in your SRV driving around the Ancient Ruin sites. There are still undiscovered Ancient Ruins sites, so go on, get out there . . . .

Good Luck.

Chris
