And I wasn't young when I started....

Some thirty-four years ago I first played Elite on the ZX Spectrum. Alas, the keyboard packed in before I could finish it. A couple of years later, I got another copy of the game, this time for PC. Alas, my hand packed in - my first really bad attack of tendonitis - before I could finish it.

A little less than thirty-four minutes ago I made triple Elite. Not that this means I've finished the game - mind you I never got to find out if the original game could be finished - but at least it's closure of a sort on two antediluvian disappointments.

I suppose I should take a moment to thank the departed spirits of rather more than two and a half thousand Thargoid Scouts who gave their lives to make this possible.

Then I should probably make a start on learning how to actually do combat.

I don't think I ever made Elite in any of the previous games even though I put hundreds if not thousands of hours into them. I have nearly 2,000 in Elite Dangerous and I'm still only Elite in trade... one off in combat and exploration... CQC will never happen lol. I don't even really care I love the game so much I don't need to grind rank.

Definitely worthy of an old-school “Right On, Commander!”* :) Congratulations on Triple Elite at last.

(And possibly a diclofenac - they’re very effective ;) )

* I remember seeing that message for the first time on my Beeb, and wondering if I had really just seen it.. It sort of made me think of Rick from the Young Ones at the time :D

This iteration is a bit different from what I've seen so far, but then I never was really into the earlier iterations of the game anyway, mostly for not knowing about them here in the States. Still keeping an eye out for the NES cartridge to play on my top loader, as I hear it was a solid port.

Congratulations either way. :)
