And I'm stumped...

So I'm trying to fit my Asp for exploring, trying to get as close as possible to 37ly jump range.

According to ED shipyard, I should be at 36.94 with this set up. http://www.edshipyard.com/#/L=60g,0Wg0Wg,2-4s6u7_6u5K8S8I,52M0O47Q405U05U2UI2jw

And yet...

Am I missing something? There is a clear difference in mass, but I can't find the discrepancy.

The current weight is heigher than its minimum weight, do you have any cargo by any chance? It should be 328 without cargo and 48 more with, but you're only 16 below your cargo limit.

I'm on my phone so it's not clear but I think your fuel has mass and a new ship is supplied with a full tank, hence the lower range.

Your full of fuel.

This is the correct answer. Those max range jump figures are based on you gaming your fuel as low as possible. Not really practical most of the time.

You have similar to me. It's ample. If you want about 35ly,go with the 16t tank. just be very careful when jumping to ensure you don't run out of fuel.

For 1-2 ly more, I personally don't think it's worth it.

Is that it? I assumed the range on ED shipyard was with a full tank. I guess that makes sense. Thanks!
If you look at the 'range chart' on EDShipyard, the column headings are for the fuel tank: low, 50% and full. The rows are for cargo you are carrying.

You might want to dump one of those cargo bays and fit another AFM unit. They weigh nothing (which is odd I know) but with 2 fitted you can use one to repair the other if it gets damaged.
Fit 'A' rated ones too as they have a higher repair capacity. The amount of 'repair ammo' they carry is irrelevant, it's the repair capacity that matters.
If fitting 2 'A' rated AFM's tops out your power plant capacity you can always turn them off until you need them - good idea anyway to turn off any unnecessary modules (until and unless needed) to reduce heat.

sell both cargo racks, shield generator and go for d power plant ;]

No need and detrimental.

It's size 3A. It's the lightest you can get whilst still class b heat management (essential for exploring).

Size 3D is not enough power. Size 4D is much heavier and you don't need the power.
