I jumped in to a system with a neutron star, got too close but only lost 1% while i came out of powerdrive 0.13 LS from the star. i attempted to move away from the star when I was only 43% heat but just engaging the jump drive shot me over 200% so I cancelled jump drive but continued to climb past 340% heat and my ship exploded. Cancelling jump drive has ALWAYS reduced heat back to original levels. I had months of exploration data and thats now all gone for something that should not have happened. On top of that, the game froze and closed out. Also, the price of merchandise is rather outrageous even when on sale. I mean a t-shirt for $34.00? It's made of cotton and you're a video game company not Versace.

I'm out.

Are you sure in your panic you didnt hit silent running, and you would have been better to not cancel your jump and 340% before you died is pretty lenient, and like above said, see you in the morning :)

200%! before cancelling the FSD next to a Neutron star? I don't think the game is at fault lol.

Sarcasm aside: I feel your pain. I made the idiot mistake of plugging my iPhone into my computer while I was jumping... which brought up iTunes... which backgrounded ED.... while I was flying right at a black hole... and iTunes maxed up my CPU for a while and by the time I got everything alt-tabbed around I was a cinder and lost a week and a half's worth of exploration data. Filed under: "pilot error"

The $34 t-shirts are the A-rated shirts. I have a 3F t-shirt and you don't even want to wipe your hands on the thing without getting heat warnings and taking damage.

I know to throttle down once the timer starts. i missed it on this occasion and was slammed into normal space with only 1% damage. That's not what got me upset. But whatever, I made the mistake, I exploded, I'm dealing with the consequences, and now I'm no longer planning on spending any more time on this game. I have other ways of passing my free time. I do not expect sympathy, I'm just venting. I understand how this community is, I've participated in it, and I respect the harsh reality of the way this game operates. Maybe I'll be back and maybe I will not. At any rate I'm moving on. Farewell.

I feel for you..I've logged over 20kly so far on exploration, and ALWAYS hit "x" as soon as I jump out.
First jump on my last trip, forgot to do it, came out of FS, nudged forward like I always do to start scooping before I realized I was already moving close to full throttle. Drop out of SC 'cause I got to close to the sun, and took 5% damage to hull and about 10% to systems, and now down to a single heat sink.


Anyway, it happens. if you're gone for good, there's always star citizen :)

When people ask me why I always carry 1 heat sink launcher, I will direct them to this thread.

Great? Not sure what that has to do with what i asked the OP. I'm genuinely curious on if the OP would return if things changed and what happened to him couldn't happen again. This isn't a question either one of you can answer since the question wasn't directed at you.

I agree with and expect the danger and as for not slamming into planets, thats like today's cars braking themselves to prevent you from dying from inattention lol. I am a ranger after all with several thousand light years under my belt. My beef was with the heat continuing to rise after canceling FSD which in the past it has settled back down to pre-FSD activation levels. A heat sink would have been nice but at the rate the heat was rising it would have only delayed the inevitable.

I fail to see how this is relevant or FD's problem? I can understand the feeling of being gutted and totally get feeling upset, but if it resulted in this then maybe you should take a break from the game......it is just a game.

If you feel it was a glitch then fill out a ticket explaining what happened before you take time off from the game....
