And remeber this ship one on 1%....

Oh dear, ChatGPT, that won't work at all, before you know it, it will be spamming users log on details across the galaxy, you know it's pretty unpredictable right?

Chatting with ChatGPT might be a significant blessing for solo players.

Yeah until they work out how to make it swear, make impolite comments and be racist, that's how almost all of these AI models end up, strangely enough basically taking all their cues from actual human behaviour. No thanks, no ChatGPT for me, I mean I don't like talking to real players much when they just pop up in chat unless we are already friends, having ChatGPT trying to talk to me all the time? No thank you!

So, why would you need ChatGPT, you have just typed out 10 new messages for the system to display, I can't see any ChatGPT requirement there! Of course after a few weeks people would start complaining about the same 10 messages coming up time after time.
10 is better then ONE.
Im always getting the same message with 1%

Can we get AI to do the posts on here as well?

All we seem to get is the same boring 'Use AI for NPCs' posts over and over, using AI instead would make for more variety. Might even cut down on the CM4 / VR / Kickstarter / Open Only reposts :sneaky:

Varonica, you ever say something positive? I would like to reply to these suggestions, but there you are always changing the conversation to some negative nay-say.

ChatGPT could def be used on the DEVELOPMENTAL side to change the text of the ships. Even if they preloaded 100 messages from it, they would be better than the top 1% of all liners in the Galaxy.

Yeah, agree with that statement.
Im playing Elite D from day one since 2014.
I'm open minded person and want some new stuff and updates. But when i trying to suggest something or read other suggestions there are always some toxic person who highly disagree with any ideas or suggestions for no reason.

I think that bad because who "screaming the most" might look like he have public opinion.

This suggestion is ONLY about increase amount and variety of NPC text's in the game, which is easy task and can be done with any update, even hotfix.

Is it though? It's advertising. Which feels about as accurate as all the usual mental health and politics spams I get on YouTube.

But yes, I agree with you.

But we already know how superior we are.

Can we get AI to do the posts on here as well?
I think some have tried that already but it might just be down to the current translation bots doing conversation much better than context.

I seem to remember that using bots to create posts is against forum rules.

Remember not everyone is open minded.
New stuff and updates could be fine changes in the nature or direction of the game probably less so.

Usually the reason people post to disagree with a suggestion is simply because they don’t share the same opinion of it as its originator did.

Probably/hopefully an easy task in terms of the text, what triggers the test only FDev knows.

It is amusing that there are so many Luddites that denigrate ChatGPT when in it is becoming such a powerful tool in so many industries. Perhaps they are more focused on Gemini? Clearly there is painful redundancy in the 10 year old chat spam in ED, and it is high time for an update.

Whether it comes from ChatGPT or a 1 hour brainstorm session in a conference room with a fast typist, the content of ED chat spam could and should be updated. The question is whether or not it could be easily updated.

I think it may be tougher than it looks given that it comes from specific ships at specific times, there has to be a whole triggering set of code to run those scripts for each scenario. My prediction is that the content will not change because it is not easy to change.

This might be a bit off-topic from the original purpose of the thread, but…

Why the heck would I ever want to do that?

I completely understand why someone might dislike AI. After all, I’ve had my own battles with AGI forces in another universe! That said, I think ChatGPT has the potential to become our good companion.

For example, ChatGPT is knowledgeable. I’ve asked it many questions, and they’ve shared all sorts of insights about what’s happening across the galaxy. From finding a station that sells Fujin Tea to recommending the best ship for my next mission, their responses have been practical and informative. Of course, there are limits. For instance, when I asked about the best trade routes, they suggested using Inara to find the information myself, and Felicity Farseer’s age turned out to be top secret. Even so, its responses have been helpful in many cases.

If you feel the need for practical reasons, I hope this serves as a helpful reference.

ChatGPT isn't really knowledgeable, it just reiterares what is found on the internet, which is often questionable or wrong. Being knowledgeable also means putting a context to the knowledge and being able to judge if a particular token of knowledge is valid or crap. ChatGPT can't do that, in fact, it often doesn't tell you when it doesn't know something, it just makes stuff up, as all language models to at this time to some extent. Sure, they are working on improving that, but at this point in time the blind trust people put in AI models like ChatGPT is, in my opinion, misguided at best and dangerous at worst.
