And still no option to remove the Excel spreadsheet in supercruise

Looking at the screenshot, I don't see what the problem is, that looks normal and playable to me.

I don't know what of fanboy you have to be to accept 12 horribly aliased debug lines, not to mention the sidebars AND the burst of blue rings once you approach something. It's not normal, they just left those things in there and have not yet decided to remove them.

Each to their own opinion.

I like the UI as it is now and wouldn't like it changed. I would however be fine with an on/off switch (Default on) in the options/ship screen so people could play how they like.

I suspect he's complaining about the supercruise orbit lines (correct me if I am wrong). They don't bother me, but that's not to say that they won't bother other people.

At the start when I fired up the Beta, I liked the orbit lines - they reminded me of Frontier. Now, I see the point in having user control over them, and not just a simple toggle. You should be able to quickly toggle large body lines (stars, planets, moons), small body lines that could be displayed when close enough (asteroids, comets, artificial satellites) and station/outpost orbit lines. You should be able to configure their colour and line type. You should be able to have control. Like we would have in a navigation system designed in the 34th century.

But don't remove them from the game altogether. They're still nice, and helpful, at times.

I suspect that the reason they're there is that they tested during development and found that a solar system actually looks too bare without the overlay, and the lines are there to give a sense of scale and movement to what is mostly empty space.

Having said that, I'm sure they'll get round to adding a toggle once they're done squashing critical bugs and the like, since this is obviously a *very* emotion filled issue for some people ;)

Great post. I never liked the lines, they were never helpful to me, though. I would remove all the lines from SC if I could. I have the speed indicator, I don't need the scrolling sidebars. I have the target reticule, I don't need the blue rings. I have the the system objects at my left, I don't need the orbital lines.

Some dev said that they were basically just left there from some graphical debug renderer, I don't imagine it would be a big task to add the toggle.

It's absolutely disgusting. Pathetic. All Frontier company employees should be given a life term in prison, whether they worked on Elite: Dangerous or not, for inflicting this crime against nature on the world. I'm sure it's written into UK law somewhere that lines must not be drawn on a screen in a space game. Shall I set up an e-petition on the UK government website?

+1 We should be able to decide whether or not we want them shown. Sometimes I really do want to appreciate the view without them lines.

ok soooo looking at your pic it seems your gfx settings are not that great , sure the orbit lines are all jagged but so are other parts of your screen shot. , second.. they are obrit lines. soooo if you dont want them you can damage your ship enough to loose the canopy and look at that they are gone.

but i look at this complaint and think it is just like all of us who want different color HUDs. also when flying i hardly notice them now. if you try not to focus on it they will just go away mentally like a scratch on a pair of eye glasses. after a while your eyes and brain "remove" ignore the defect and you do not notice it.

sort of like when wives/girlfriends start to get fat we forget that they once were skinny

I agree with you that the SC ui must at the very least be toggable, and hopefully it will be remade to better fit the game.

But playing the fanboy card because someone disagree with you, and even claiming the game unplayable is going too far.
Your acting like a teenager starved for attention, clean up your act and discuss the issue instead of throwing crap all around.

There's already a load of threads discussing this very point... and yes once again I'd like an option to turn them off with just a small indicator of your current destination in the HUD.

Should be simple enough, I'm sure they will listen and add the option eventually.
