And that's me back to Solo

Name and shame - These people need a really high bounty on their head which can't be paid off.

I am the far side of the galaxy so not issues out here, but I certainly wouldn't pull people out of super cruise and kill them even if they run.

I plan to go back with my maxed Cobra and fly around with no cargo or bounty if I get pulled out of SC by a real player then I know it will be war.

I just think if these people had £1m on their head then they may change their habbits.

Just like a death penalty solved crimerates in reallife you mean?

edit:
If anything it would just cause someone to stay on same path forever. And such measures always tend to cause more annoyance to normal players then anything else.
For example: You are bounty hunting and then a cop zooms past your cockpit just when you are firing a salvo. Great, 1 000 000 cr bounty.

I'll play online only with a fully pimped viper or cobra.

Solo is for grinding the money and online to spend it on some PvP safari trips when you become millionaire. 10.000cr for cannon munitions? who cares...

I was reasonably good at solo PvP in EVE at one point, and in lo-sec or null systems I'd fight whoever appeared that I felt I could take on. If it turned out to be an easy kill, I'd send my victim enough cash to rebuy his ship (within reason). If you don't want non-consensual PvP then just play in solo mode. Criticising others for their play style is pointless, there are tools at your disposal to avoid what you are uncomfortable with so use them.

Solo mode is not cheating as some seem to suggest... your piloting skills aren't going to improve beyond a certain point fighting the AI. It's all well and good entering PvP with a pimped-out Asp, only to get your ass shot off by the first human Viper pilot you meet because you've only ever fought the AI. If you fancy yourself as a hot-shot pilot you need to fight other humans and learn from your mistakes and develop your strategies accordingly.

So you want PvP on your terms but not someone else's... Accruing a massive bounty is a badge of honour for alot of people, how is that going to dissuade anyone from interdicting anyone and then to attack you, especially in an anarchy system? What's to stop a pilot with a massive bounty allowing one of their friends to kill them and collect the bounty, then returning the favour at a later date?

why hang around starter systems? i never run into people out even as close as arcturus.

three things:

1) azeban is a bad on for being interdicted, i passed though yesterday and choobs tried to interdict me like three or four times on my way to azeban enterprise

2) avoid lock by using your thrusters to stay out of firecone while you charge jump

3) jump out asap

whenever i get interdicted i tend to just warp right out or go back into supercruise.

I will as I wrote in other Thread use the Cheat Mode aka solo use to improve and avoid ,,,,and be often in Open as Badass...sry but if they force me to play it in there Style, I will do...

You have been spouting the most sour gibberish about this imagined offence against your gods-given right to leetpeekay errbody up in open for some days now. Yes what a bunch of awful cheaters we are, how dare we wish not to compete most gloriously against the likes of you. lol. I've run my cargo scanner and have detected a few tonnes of butthurt in your hold CMDR. :D

I've been out with friends then got back and played a bit (in Open because I like the chance to interact).

In answer to this question I had actually got quite far away in my random exploring when I saw a video about the Federation Distress Signal and the honking huge ship and flew back just so I can see it. I don't have HUGE amounts of time to play the game and have tried my hand at trading, missions and mining but didn't really fancy fighting. Then I saw that and thought, what the heck.

Someone else pointed out I could have run away or dropped my cargo (hence showing they'd not read the bit about me selling my cargo hold). And I was trying to run away as I quickly realised how outmatched I was.

I am going to keep playing open because I'd like to help the developers get the networking code better.

The CMDR was called buster. I'd not named them before because I figured it was just sour grapes but heck enough people have asked.

Have fun all. I've calmed from my early rant, shooting sidewinders helped lots.

If it was a NPC that interdicted you and blew you out of the sky for nothing would you have quit solo?

Ah, but the NPCs arent as good as humans to do that yet so it probably wouldnt happen.

Would you care to bet a large amount of money on that statement ?

I'm not a crap pilot.............BUT

I have been interdicted by NPC's a few times.....They have opened up on me even though I am clean with just a message "Time to die" or sthg like that.......Twice I have had no cargo.......They were not crap pilots either......Mind you with my viper going from a Ferrari to fiat panda with the changes...That might have something to do with it.....Anyway escaped most with some serious damage and a few thought why did I do that as they floated away in pieces.................

But it does happen in solo ass well.................

Still keeps you on ya toes................

Being a newbe I'm still doing the training missions, while learning to use the frame drive between two stations I was interdicted on two separate occasions, first time was a female who scans me & then tells me I'm free to go then disappears into into the sunset. Second time I have no idea who because I was just blown away in a matter of seconds before I could turn & get lock on my uninvited guest. This was a nice safe training mission Right! There was no financial reward available so it was just done for the hell of it. Nothing is what it seems here & I like that in a game so I've learned to expect the unexpected & take nothing for granted.

I can see how this evolves unless Frontier is careful. Most players will hang out in PvE groups like Mobius, earning money, socializing and having fun on their own terms while pirates and griefers kill noob sidewinders in OP.

The sad fact is that both player types by their respective behavior are contributing to the slow death of the game. Because as civil players operate in group play, hidden from pirates and noobs alike pirates will start hunting empty sidewinders in starter systems for laughs and giggles and the OP arena will be truly bad PR for ED, Frontier and us as a player base.

But alas this problem is in the hands of the developer and as a player I can only respond to the environment they put me in.
