...And forget about everything.
Well hopefully the clickbait worked, even if you can't place the lyrics. It's Gerry Rafferty's Baker Street by the way
But now I've got you here, I'd like to bring up/ rehash a subject that I think is more important to long term Elite players than just going on a walk around your spaceship or some generic port (or any of the other forum whinges stuck in a constant loop). And that subject is owning and building property in Elite.
I'm sure you can think of owning/ operating all sorts of joints; Bars, Shops, Secret Hideways for your fleet, Hotels, Mining Camps, Maintenance Workshops, Chop-shops, Exploration staging posts, the odd Seamstress’ Guild headquarters, entire spaceports…
But a place that you can build up, operate employ others and hell, even just visit and call home? To an old duffer like me, this has more relevance to the original ideals of independence while ‘carving out your place’ in the galaxy than what would essentially amount to a 1st/ 3rd person shooter mode. I know other space-faring games do property ownership too; but I'd much rather have this in our game.
Just lodge a claim with the local authority and pay for the land (or not!), a few new management menus for the building/ operating and voila, chez Tall Toot. I'm sure it's not as easy as that, but I'm certain it's easier than a realistic, bug free way of visiting every nook and cranny on billions of different planets with everyone's favourite bipedal lifeform.
There, feel much better getting it off me chest. Now get back to complaining about the same old same things you dogs; unless you want to chip in something constructive of course
