Android Companion?

As most of us know, their is an official companion app for Elite: Dangerous on the iOS Appstore currently, we have yet to see anything about its Android counterpart. I always like a good companion app for my games, especially if it allows me to login and actually tweak my Elite account.

Just curious if I was the only one anticipating an Android version, or at least an update to the ancient iOS variant. :)

Not missing out on anything. I assure you.

Yah I think FD have sort of given up on the whole companion idea at the moment coz the current one's close to useless, and they simply haven't withdrawn the ios one coz it doesn't actually do any harm. They did promise developers an API a while back (though the only thing we've heard since calling for expressions of interest has been "no news" - discouraging) and I have a feeling they're gonna (eventually, possibly) they're gonna focus on that and rely on third parties to develop companion apps (or just wave a vague promise of an API in the air and hope we stop asking them difficult questions).

In order to provide a functional API that people can design stable applications for, you need a mature code-base. Typically this sort of feature is a polish step done after most systems are established and stable and less likely to change, otherwise as a developer you just make a ton of extra work for yourself.
Don't despair, the fact that APIs aren't available yet is probably a reflection of just how much room the game still has to grow, and how many more interesting systems and features lay ahead.

The iOs app has never worked for me, so it's a bit pointless really. The only app I would be interested in would be a trade data/outfitting app showing trade /outfitting prices at other stations.
