Animal Breeding Question, Or Opinions Requested Anyway

So, still on my first zoo, and my animals have started to breed. My question is this:

When the babies become adults, and i want to make space, should i sell or release the new adults, or should i sell and/or release the older ones so that the population stays stronger longer? Another thought was choose which to keep based on the numbers (ie. Fertility, Longevity and the like)? Any opinions are welcome.

I keep the younger animals with the highest tier and stats. Older animals will stop reproducing and -- especially for species where only one male exists in the group -- this can break down the whole longevity of the group's growth.

Releasing to the wild give you more stars to your zoo's conservation rating, as do things like using clean energy and recycling. You won't get this bonus from selling/trading. I generally release to the wild any animals I breed from exhibits to get my 5-star conservation rating, and I trade all my habitat animals for conservation credits on the public market (assuming franchise mode). If they can only be traded for money and not CC, I just quick-sell.

For me it depends on the social system, for harems (1 male, several females) I generally sell or release the males and keep the high tiered females and buy in new blood in the form of new males just because it is easier to keep track of although occasionally I do the opposite if I've got an awesome male and only mediocre female offspring. For 1 to 1 ratio partners I tend to keep the best of the youngsters, sell off siblings and their parents and again buy in new blood as a partner for the existing one. It's all partly because I like to see the generations through so I have a 'stud book' of my important animals's family trees (I love an excel spreadsheet).

Family trees were an advertised feature that isn't in the game... yet.
