Animal coat differences too subtle and coat sexual dimorphism where there shouldn't be?

Why are the males always darker than females in some animals, that should look the same, if not for an individual's coat colors?

The reason for this is probably that a "layperson" can distinguish male and female animals better. On the other hand it's completely inaccurate and doesn't support the educational aspect of the game well.Just like spreading the misinformation of albinism and leucism being the same.

I don't get why nile monitors seem to look different, but timber wolves--the wild species with the most color variation--all look the same.

I have a hopeful hunch that this is all because Frontier finished the pattern variation system but didn't finish the color variation system, and everything will be just fine with a future update. The Steam page says "every animal in Planet Zoo is a thinking, feeling individual with a distinctive look and personality of their own" so it must be something that's at least planned? A dev response would be really helpful.
