Animal fights

There is absolutely no reason for the parent animals to fight the second the babys get to adult. Even if I catch them and remove them in an instant, the parents still tear each other to shreds and often enough need medical attention. Thats.. not ideal.

There should be a warning first and a few ingame days/months should pass before the animals start fighting..

Or the AI could have some basic logic and instead of getting into fights with their CHILDREN maybe have the notification of 'this animal is about to grow' this animal has grown up and now their parents are attempting to chase them out." No fights, no injuries but it would incur stress on the child if you don't choose to move it out.

Wait...that would require Frontier to maybe do something with the AI that wasn't copy paste from Jurassic World Evolution....

Yeah! I would love it more if the stress would grow so we can remove the animals BEFORE they fight. Thats a very good point!

Honestly I have a literal irl written list of ideas for Planet Zoo but I'm not posting them because well if you read my thread of 'My Experience So Far', I don't honestly feel like wasting my time suggesting things for them to do to improve the game until they can actually manage to FIX the game and ADD the features we were PROMISED first.

sadly i dont see it happening. to be honest, i dont see anything happening with them. its been over a week now and they keep quiet about the biggest bugs and problems in this game. they dont even adress it. nothing. looks to me like they dont give a damn about us.

lesson learned. that was the last game from frontier development that im going to buy.

It's a real shame to, I like Planet Coaster, but it was kinda eh for me because I'm a big animal enthusiast, not so much a people person so when Jurassic World Evolution came out (because OMG DINOSAURS YAWS, I'm a nerd sue me) I was on that wagon so fast and they had pressure from Universal so they couldn't make some half bake bug fest without serious backlash from Universal but Planet Zoo is their own project....and while it had potential, each day that goes by that we are ignored, given no answers, and very little of their promises actually kept, it's potential is slipping away rapidly. The hype was nearly dead on arrival with this game.

Honestly I don't think animals should have issues being around offspring or siblings etc in general period, bc generally in real life, you can very easily keep a family together with no issues even in typically solitary animals. Animals kept in captivity, even solitary ones, do tend to form bonds with eachother and at the very least would recognize eachother as not a threat.

There is really no reason you should be FORCED to separate parents from offspring, siblings, etc unless there is not enough space provided for all of them in the enclosure.

I do think a system where depending on habitat size, say a small habitat (500m2) limits you to a pair of animals where as say a 1000m2 allows 3-4 animals 1200m2 5 animals 1400m2 6 animals and so on would be a better system for the wolves, african wild dogs, hyenas, lions, most of the pack carnivore and herding animals, however animals that are solitary irl need a system where you keep the male to be a stud, then after they mate the male basically either has to be separated or gets agitated as this is what occurs in real life, a male tiger does not stick around the female they knock up, sorry kids, life is cruel and REAL. This also allows players to experiment with having multiple say snow leopard enclosures or insert another animal that is solitary after mating like bears, elephants (yes usually the bull male does NOT stick around, most elephant herds are matriarch ran, female ran for those who don't know), and just a various amount of other animals in the game. Exhibit animals....are....sigh I love em but I hate em I'll leave it at that.

Most games add in large fixes and QOL improvements along with DLC. Upper management doesn't like to make things better for existing customers if there isn't any immediately noticable profit to be made from it. So usually the developers work on fixes alongside the upcoming DLC and then the main game gets updated when the DLC hits. PlanCo worked in this way as well as many other large company games.

Let the refund waves begin then to be honest :I My friend who just got the game is now having several crashes only 7 hours into gameplay on a Franchise mode. Like my god, play ability where you at? I can name several other game titles in Early Access and Full Release that function better than this on release lmao.

The game does not treat offsprings as babies, because there is no family tree in the game. One of the most important parts of the game is missing.

I think this is really important. I've watched nature shows with animals like meerkats before and they don't generally do inbreeding. There is a population with many femals and males but they still seek outside groups to breed instead of mating with their family.

More on this is several animal packing species (especially wolves) if the father/brothers tries to get to frisky with the daughters/sisters the females generally will fight them off harshly, heck even the mother can step in from time to time to put the male wolves in their place, pretty sure Netflix had a documentary on Yellowstone Wolves for a long time that mentioned this aspect of wolf pack systems. Animals don't just go oh hey! You are family, let's do the do, no no no, while YES inbreeding can happen in nature this is usually due to a lack of nearby population in the present area or the species simply doesn't get affected to harshly by one generation of inbreeding or even more generations, wolf males will travel MILES upon miles to find a new pack/a lone female to join up with for this very reason, animals are animals yes but they are smarter than we give them credit for.

Wolves risk their lives for a new mate. Wild packs don't accept new members easily. Just like humans do.
I'm not sure what this has to do with anything? No one is saying a pack of wolves shouldn't be hostile to strangers, however wolves are pack animals and should tolerate and even form close bonds with family members, because that is how wolves work.

That shows how in great lengths some animals go to find a not-related mate.

I agree that it would be nice if it wasn't instantly as they reach adult phase, but to be fair - a lot of animals do fight for alpha status. There's no grace because "it's dad". If the younger male see itself strong enough to risk the fight, they will do it. Lions, chimpanzees, plenty of animals do it.
In-game I haven't done much testing with it, but I've had some species, hyenas in particular, that just fight once in a while, but don't get injured to it. In these cases I'm just leaving them be. Komodo dragons as well (and as a bonus the Komodo dragons' fighting animations are absolutely incredible..)

If it was the occosional alpha fight it would be fine. But there are two major problems:
1) Alpha or non-alpha animals will pretty much start fighting IMMEDIATELY when the children grow up if there are no more adults than the logic says there should be. And they just randomly pick on someone to fight too, so it isn't the newly matured animal attacking its parents but random. Sometimes the mother attacks the father or the father attacks the mother, or the son attacks the mother, etc. Its still
2) Alpha fights should be a once in a while thing but instead it happens over and over quite frequently.

Strange, I have only seen actual fights for alpha status (young male vs current alpha male, or in cases of wolves, young female vs current alpha female).
And #2, you're probably right. I always remove the contender as soon as fighting begins, except with hyenas - I have two males and two females in the same habitat. The females fight every once in a while, maybe once or twice a year, which I think seems reasonable.
