Animal fights

Right now, the animals start fighting as soon as they become adult. They don't even wait for a second. I would like there to be a buffer time, because in reality these changes are gradual and the animals don't act like that with their family members so soon. They either leave when nearing maturity or fight for alpha status only in breeding season or so, I don't know the particulars of animal behaviour but still it doesn't feel right what is shown right now by the game.

It would work ten times better if the alpha just stay the alpha until we removed them from the enclosure and the new adolescent stays beta unable to breed until we give it a new mate somewhere else.

Yes it would work better but it will destroy the purpose of adding animal fights and all that hardwork and dedication of the developers to add this feature would be for nothing. There could be better solution.

I'm not sure about this solution.
I definitely don't want to see it factually eliminated from the game by making it a fringe case.

Clearly, fighting should not start immediately and the general frequency might need a balance path. Especially with some animals such as wolves, fighting between related animals might be way too frequent.

Generally though, fighting animals are not the end of the world. A "fight" is not neccesarily a mortal combat till death, but a natural aspect of behaviour with lot's of growling, snarling or headbumping. Social status has to be re-evaluated all the time or enforced. Does the growling and snapping of a dominant lion against a lower ranked pride member who tries to steal food prematurely counts as "fighting"? Some seem to think so.

I do not jump to each notification, just because it's there in flashing red.
Deadly encounters are rare and unfortunte injuries will be dealt with by the vets. It's their job! ;)
Fighting oftentimes indicates overcrowding and hints towards an issue that has to be dealt with - but even then, not instantly and with panical hurry.

So: Some balancing? Sure!
Factual removal: Please not!

I agree. I wish there was more of a distinction between "fighting for alpha status" and "trying to kill another animal". I wish that there were more of the little squabbles that don't necessitate major intervention (and that don't keep showing up in my zoo's notifications...) Because fighting for alpha status often doesn't end in serious injuries -- because most animals prefer not to put themselves in situations where they'll und up hurt. For example, it's irritating when the Zoopedia says that several male and female African Wild Dogs make up a pack, but as soon as you put in more than one of each, I'm notified that they're "fighting for alpha status" more or less indefinitely. If they're supposed to live in a pack, then they should be able to live in a pack without me going to their habitat and calling the vet in every 5 minutes.

I understand why the more serious fights are in the game -- because having too many animals in a habitat can be dangerous, and sometimes animals really do not want to share territory, or they're solitary.... But for social animals, fighting for alpha status should generally be a more minor thing. It happens, but shouldn't require outside intervention. They'll snap at each other, intimidate each other, and one will back down. So it'd be nice if there was a distinction between really dangerous fights, and the more minor disputes that are a natural part of some animals' social hierarchy.

And really the alpha status fights should only happen before the mating season, especially in larger herbivores that live in herds, that should be at least once every 6 to 8 months

... not that I know or noticed if the game simulates breeding season or not
