Animal Talk Point Issue

So I haven't had issues previously with Animal Talk Points before except with this and another talk point. This slightly elevated one keeps throwing an issue saying "Habitat does not contain selected animal" or if I put it on any other place on ground level, it says "No Habitat". In the screenshot I have wire mesh but even if I remove it, it still throws an issue.

The other one refuses to list the Dhole I have in the habitat. (Same with the Education Board for that one specifically)

Any ideas?

After reading this post I decided to check my animal talk points in the save I am currently playing. I found several anomalies, including "habitat not containing selected animal". Clearly from my pic, the Clouded Leopard is in that habitat with guests viewing them and the habitat information boards correctly detecting their presence. Additionally, what I found bizarre is that the animal talks are taking place. The guests seem to gain education from attending the talks but when viewing animal talks from the education talks menu, they are registering zero participants. Something is clearly amiss.

I don't usually add talk points to my zoos but I decided to check it out if any of these issues arise. So I put a talk point at a dall sheep habitat and a grizzly bear habitat - they work perfectly fine with educators and guests happy with education boosts. I am not sure if this could be an existing talk point issue that possibly the new update introduced or some kind of registration issue with animals. I would probably delete and put a new talk point somewhere else along the same habitat, fire and hire new educators and maybe even quarantine and rehouse the animals. If anything else , maybe verify the game files or a simple game restart might work.

But it could be another issue like the enrichment bug that was introduced in the new update, maybe add the issue into the tracker to see how many others suffer from the same issue.

Interesting. Thank you both for your input. Seems to be a bug. I've moved the Talk points to no avail. The one for the Dhole fixes itself when I send them all to the Trade Center and back to the habitat. The Siberian Tiger one seems broken for now. I'll just leave as is.

Thanks for checking Captain Callum. That was very nice of you to do so.

I checked my zoo save more carefully last night and this morning. I have 11 talk points in it (I love them!) and found that 6 were functioning correctly and 5 weren't. Only the Clouded Leopard habitat displays habitat not containing animal but perhaps it has something to do with the habitat design since talks are taking place. I did, however, find an issue by checking all talk points and have filed a bug report for it: https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/51837

I replicated the problem in 2 different zoo saves. If seating is linked to the talk point and standing guests aren't allowed, then no guest count for attending will appear in the animal talks menu tab. Changing the talk point to allow standing guests does allow the guest count to display. This isn't actually game breaking for me since the guests seem to gain education but I wasn't sure how much the guest count contributes to the educational rating of the zoo. Hence, I opted to file the bug report. If anyone reading wants to check their games and contribute to the report, if seeing the same issue, please do so.

I'm glad the Dhole situation cleared for you abhiwan_kenobi. I see seating in your pic for the Siberian Tiger habitat, so you may want to check and see if talks are taking place and whether or not any guest count registers for you.

Thank you for looking through your saves.

I'm currently playing a sandbox where I'm mostly working on builds and then plan to introduce guests after but I can check just to be sure. At least on the guest count displaying side.

As for the correct animal not being listed at all, it is a recurring issue every time I load the game so I'll have to recreate it and see what the issue is and then put in a bug report.
Glad to know it's not a one off issue and that it might be addressable.

In general, I find that the radius around the animal talk point to connect to a habitat is VERY small. Especially when I am trying to connect to an exhibit where the Keeper should be able to walk a bit of a distance with the animal in hand. The radius is very restrictive and could improve the animal talk point functionally if we had just a little bit more leeway. Thanks for reading!
