Animal Trading help

Hi all,

I've played through the first 3 tutorial levels now and have started the 4th - Maple Leaf but I'm having trouble getting animals to purchase. I opened it up at the start to buy my first animals and at the start there were several options but they seemed to time out almost immediately as I was looking at options and then when I refreshed there was nothing. I finally got 1 bear but that was it and couldn't get any more or see any animals.

Is there a trick to it?

The other problem I'm having in particular with this level is that it's almost pitch black after a short while. Is there a way to turn this off so I can see what I'm building?

Thanks for any help

Hi!

I found that in that particular scenario it's a bit difficult to get animals, you just have to keep looking and checking back every so often. It's not you, it's the way the level is designed.

I don't know if it's possible at that level, but you can usually somewhat control the day/night cycle by setting the opening hours to daytime (for example 9 am - 7 pm) so when the time comes to close the zoo, it quickly skips the night so you don't have to wait for the morning. If you can't change that, you can also press L on your keyboard and it gives you a light (very useful if you're building in the dark).

Thanks PeppyPepp. That's reassuring that it's the level and not me. It was frustrating because there were lots of black bear and tortoise when I first looked but they disappeared in a minute and then nothing was popping up at all. I finally got a single black bear but nothing else, even when I just looked for all animals.

It was weird with the L for light. I saw it pop up on the loading screen before I finished off tutorial 3 and I tried it and it was great, gave off lots of light. So I tried it in tutorial 4 - Maple Leaf, when it got dark and it was like nothing had happened. I even found the camera setting and turned it on there so I knew it was 'on' and it was the same.

I'll see if I can change the opening times because it was so dark it was like you were in the middle of nowhere. Realistic but doesn't make it possible to design a nice enclosure and it was lasting for ever. I was trying to place trees and could just about see them but they could be hanging in mid air for all I know 🤣

I'm tempted to restart it and see if I can get some animals before the timer resets.

Yeah, the selection of animals is pretty minimal. I think I bought everything that was available regarding different species because if I remember correctly you have to get a certain amount of different habitat animals (and I was aiming for the gold).

The light function only works if you're really close. If you zoom out, you can't see anything even if you have the light on. I totally understand, building in the dark can be frustrating. :p

Ahh... that maybe explains the light. I was possibly just a bit too far away. I'll try zooming in closer. Thanks!

Yes, you do need quite a few different species to get gold. Even for bronze you need 3 habitat species and I think it's 16 different species including 6 exhibits for Gold.

I was worried about using all the conservation credits at the start but I think just getting enough species before they disappear might be the more important.
