Why is Europe divided into three regions while Australia, which is at least as climatically diverse, is one?

Europe is larger, and it would be hard to include different regions through Australia, since most animals would fit in all of them.

I'm not really too fussed about how you choose to split up regions (don't mind you just grouping them under Australia if that's easiest for you), but this is definitely not the case. Splitting Australia into broad temperate (southern and south-eastern), tropical (northern) and arid (inland) regions, the only animals from your list that would fit in all of them would be the emu and short-beaked echidna.

South and Iberia: Meditteranean Climate
East and Central: Temperate Forests and/or Grasslands and all the in between stuff
North: Polar and subpolar

Europe is climatically diverse, too, but it is almost all forest.

And yes i know it is almost a year late.

I didn’t say Europe wasn’t climatically diverse, I said Australia was at least as climatically diverse.
