I should note up front this is for animals already in the game, though some hope on wishes for future content as well is not entirely discouraged.
So I'm having an idea of a zoo that is based off of the four seasons. It'll be four separate areas, and will be in sandbox with most of the options turned off. That way, there's very few limitations as to what I could do. I'm trying to come up with a list of animals for each season that I could put in. Also putting in one or up to two headliner animals for each region. I have some ideas but wanted other people's thoughts. Also only working with Habitat animals for this so far. Exhibit animals can be added in later with not much moving things around.
Fall/Autumn - Since that's the season we're in now in the Northern Hemisphere that'll come first!
Headliner Animal(s) - Bengal Tiger (I think because of the colors? Otherwise it'd be summer/spring) Moose
Existing - I know they could work for winter as well, but I think animals like the Formosan Black Bear, the Grizzly, and the Timber Wolf work really well here. Maybe the Red Ruffed Lemur because of the color? Red Pandas as well even though they could work with Spring. Beaver could work here or in Spring. Cougar could work here or in Spring/Summer. Orangutan, again because of the coloring
Wishes - for some reason a lot of the European animals bring this season to mind. I'm not sure why. Europe goes through all four seasons, but I associate with Autumn nonetheless. I've never been to Europe so that might change if I had the opportunity to go. I know it's got a lot of climates, just like many other place in the world. But I'm wishing for Alpine Ibex, European Badgers, Wolverine, Eurasian Lynx on this. Outside of that the American Black Bear I think and maybe the Wombat (though that could fit with Spring as well) Oh! And the Andean Bear and Raccoon, they even have masks (like for Halloween!)
Winter - fairly self explanatory I think, so I won't try to give one lol
Headliner animal(s) - King Penguin, Polar Bear
Existing - this is one of the easier ones IMO. All of the animals in the Arctic Pack; as well as the Arctic Fox, Snow Leopard work well here. I could also put in the Japanese Macaques, Siberian Tiger. Maybe the seal as well?
Wishes - They've actually covered a lot here now that we have the Arctic Fox, so I'm not sure what to ask for here. The Wolverine could work here or in the Autumn section.
Spring - I had a hard time with this season as well, basically choosing what should be fall and what should be spring. But Spring brings a more lively state of mind where as fall is more things transitioning to the cold, to hibernation, etc. Also a more warmer climate but not as hot and dry as summer, so a lot of jungles and forest animals work here (I do realize that jungles can get very hot, but it's a different hot than dry heat)
Headliner animal - Giant Panda (they seem more in place here to me than in the fall and summer seems to warm and winter seems too cold for me, plus they're playful and that's a sign of life to me as well.) I think having a very strong single Headliner makes up for not having two that in this case.
Existing - Clouded Leopard, Babirusa, Llama (could work especially well with fall though), Koala, Giant Anteater, Indian Elephant, Alligator(could also work for summer though). Gorillas and Chimpanzees Adding in the colorful Cassowary and Peafowl as well!
Wishes - Capybara, Asian Small Clawed Otter, Red River Hog,
Summer - Animals more suited to a dry heat (as opposed to humid heat like above). Deserts and plains as well - I realize Deserts can get cold too at times, so this is also something that's more for wide open spaces that aren't covered in snow.
Headliner animal(s) - Meerkat, African Elephant
Existing - Camel, Red Kangaroo, Fennec Fox, California Sea Lion, Dingo, Prairie Dog, Komodo Dragon (or should I move that to spring..ugh!) , Giant Otter (or is this better for spring as well?) , Warthog, Pronghorn Antelope, African Penguins, Lions
Wishes - Maned Wolf, Dromedary
Undecided - for what we have is the Bison. I'm honestly not sure where to put them; I could actually see them making a home in all of the sections. I think it would make sense to put the Giraffe in the summer section as that's where most of the African animals are, but their colors remind me of Autumn and the turning of the leaves. But they'd look so out of place there!
For what we don't have the Crested/Caped/Indian Porcupine, which could work for any of the seasons but winter.
Thoughts...suggestions...inclusions....are all welcome! Of course some of this is subjective but I'm eager to get feedback.
