Animals escaping in the middle of the habitat

Two days ago I got an alert that an animal had escaped. I checked it out and it turned out to be one of my bonobo babys. Problem was, that he was IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HABITAT!. He wasn't even close to any walls, just standing there next to one of the big ones. I was working in a completly different part of my zoo and hadn't touched the barriers to the bonobo habitat, so it can't be that. No clue what happened.
Then today it happened again. First I got an alert that one of my Red pandas was about to give birth. 5 sec later I got an alert that she had escaped. I went to check it and saw this;

She is boxed up in the middle of the habitat??? what is happening? Have never encounted this problem befor. And i can't unbox her ether, I have to move her (and I don't think the staff can even reach her up there) :(

I know if my baby mandrills are in a tree or on a climbing platform higher than the walls it will show them as escaped even if they are still in the habitat. Maybe raise the walls a little?

It happens when animals get outside of the bounds of what the game thinks is part of the habitat and the game's calculations of what can be reached in the habitat is part of that.

I get this al the time in my current main franchise zoo if an ostrich matures when on the 3rd level of the 3 story shelter I have in there. It pushes them onto the roof because the 3rd level is not actually tall enough for a full grown ostrich (it's for the warthogs that are also in the habitat). The roof is not considered part of the habitat because there's no traverseable path to reach it....so the game calls it an escape.

When babies are born they can end up in a similar position as the game spawns them, looks like that may have happened but then the game auto-boxed them.

Walls do not need to be as tall as the climbing structure. I rarely make my habitat walls even close to the height of the climbing stuff. What's important is if an animal reaches a place that the game didn't original calculate as being reachable.

As far as moving her, doesn't matter if the staff can reach. They have crazy long range with grabbing boxes that are in unreachable places. Just do a move action and they should handle it just fine.

Thanks for the replies :) Making the walls higher seems wierd tho, you would have to make extremly high walls for all habitats that contains climbing animals and that would just look wierd :/ And she have been up there climbing before without me getting the "escaped" notification. And the bonobo baby was on the ground when i got the notification, just sitting there right next to some adults, so there can not have been a climbing issure there

redoing barriers or make them higher does not solve this problem. As Jaggid said it is a known bug. We all wait for next patch to fix this.

I have this Problem a lot in my Ring Tailed Lemur Enclosure. Most of the Time if they are sitting on Climbing-Structures

You can move her to another Place in the Enclosure. If you do this, no Staff is needed

I think there is an other bubble. Maybe an habitat is a bubble too. Come out of your bubble and you are an escapee :)

Do you have any facilities inside the habitat? Like a donation box that inside or somwhat clipped into the wall?

I expanded my Zebra habitat yesterday, forgot to move the donation box (in the middle of the habitat).. My zebras were constantly escaping until I moved it..

Nope I have non of that. In my Bonobo habitat I only have the barrier and the necessary stuff to keep my animals happy, since I haven't started working on that one yet, so no donation boxes. And in my Red panda habitat they are all outside the barrier

I experienced a similar problem a couple weeks ago where I lowered the terrain by the barrier and it created the little flat ridge of terrain around the barrier and a baby gorilla would run down and merge out the barrier. Usually I will hide things like that with rocks to make it look more natural but didn’t that time and it happened a good four or five times but I haven’t experienced it since.

I had that problem with my baby wild dog. I use elephant grass as a natural barrier and the adult dogs can't walk thru it, but the baby could get close enough for it to count as beeing outside the barrier. But these two examples (bonobo and red panda) has nothing to do with that, since they were both in the middle of the habitat, not even close to any barriers
