Animal's space requirements

Hi all, regarding the space requirements in zoopedia.... when it says an animal wants 300m (sq) of land and 125m (sq) of water, is the water area considered to be within the land area (total area: 300), or is it in addition to the land area (total area: 450)?

Also is that per individual animal, i.e. if you have 2 flamingos, you need to provide twice as much space, and if you have 10 flamingos, you need 10 times as much?

Im pretty sure water or climbing space are in addtion to land-space. When an animal requires 300m land-space and 200m water-spaces, youll need 500m in common.

When you have more than one animal youll need some more space. Its not the same space again and again (so the exhibits would get pretty huge). Its a percentage of the normal space that is added to the space needs for each animal in the exhibit, but im not sure how much it is.

It needs both for sure. it would need 300 of land and 125 of water. remember to take into account this is only for one of that animal and adding more than one or when they mate it will need more.

Thanks! I wish I knew ahead of time how big to make it for, say, 4 or 5 animals even if I'm only starting with 1 or 2. Because it's harder to expand their space later, if you've already built other habitats around it. Are there any guesses about how much more space is needed per animal, is it more like 50% or 10%? Or maybe it varies by species, where an additional lion needs a higher % than an additional lemur? 🤔

The percentage differs from species to species, yes.
You can only try it out.
For an example American Bisons are very humble when it comes to additional space per animal,
Saltwater Crocodiles are very demanding.
