same over there:

It seems to happen more often. Before the Update only my Lemurs "escaped" but now it also happens with Mandrills and Cheetahs. I hope, they figure out soon how to fix it

What I just have noticed with my snow leopard:

  • The animal is within its habitat on top of a hill.
  • When I first click on the red notification, the screen moves to a location outside of the habitat with the animal outlined in white.
  • If I click a second time on the notification, the view moves to the actual animal.
  • If I zoom out, the outlined animal replaces the actual animal. If I look straigth down onto the area where the actual animal is, I only see the outlined animal close to where the actual animal is, but not in the same spot.
  • If I them zoom in, the outlined animal disappears and the actual animals becomes visible. The outlined animal is visible from far away.
  • Based on its position when moving the view around, it looks like the outlined animal’s position is a good way below the surface.

Yeah, same here... All my franchise mode animals are in the middle of their habitat and I get a random "animal has escaped" message and then people getting refunds because of animals escaping... This bug makes Franchise mode unfortunately unplayable again... :( Probably no big issue for people that have a big Franchise zoo with a lot of money.. But my zoo has only a few animals and I need to save my money to be able to upgrade my habitats.. and I'm really not taking the risk of going bankrupt so I have to start all over again :(

I had the same happen to me once yesterday in a newly built zoo. When I added the Dall Sheep I had used the terrain tool to symbolize some hills. One of my sheep were happily running around these "hills" then suddenly, when trying to get down from a hill to ground level the sheep sort of hovered right over the flat ground below the hill, as if it got stuck? Instantly a notification showed up saying an animal escaped.
I used the smoothing tool on the area the sheep got "stuck" in to avoid a harsh line in the terrain and it did not happen again so far.

Just a thought - really, I have no idea what I'm talking about tbh - but you don't think it's to do with barriers sometimes having that space at ground level? Where you have to edit barrier and 'pull' it with the crosshair icon to make it flush with the ground? I wondered if the space at the bottom makes the barrier register as insufficient or broken to the game, so that it's not working as intended?

Again, have no idea, just pondering.

I dont think its related to this specific issue. An escape is supposed to count when your animal walks/climbs past the barrier which it in this case does not

Hey, there’s progress. Yestwrday, I had to start my tundra Franchise zoo (started before the update) new because of a bug with keepers refusing to transport boxes, so animals would not get delivered to the habitat. This was triggered by me forgetting initially to connect the habitat path, but that never caused this problem before.

In my new game, when I get the message “Dangerous animal escaped”, the game is so kind to box the animal up immediateley right there in the habitat where it “escaped”. Currently, I only have one macaqe habitat. We’ll see what happens when I add more animals. But at lest no fines for emergency captures. Knock on wood!

I see I am not the only one, I couldn´t play much the past two days, but noticed yesterday all of a sudden animals escaped in franchise, I made a new zoo for the current challenge and constantly the monkeys "escaped " when climbing. just now I opened my sandbox project and I got the same silly message, it never happend before the update in the sandbox zoo:

yep getting insane animals all over my zoo getting boxed and escapes will in habitat no escapable places just climbable 1s inside the habitat
