Animations for dinosaur interactions are choppy since new update

Hey.

Since the new update, the animation for socialising is very choppy when I load my sandbox parks. All dinosaurs are affected by this and it definitely didn't occure before the new update.

All other animations run fluently as usual.

When I start a new sandbox the interactions between dinosaurs are smooth as they should be.

I hope I don't have to redo all my old parks now.. 😔

(I play on PS4 Pro)

I tried it again with a new sandbox park. It worked well until I reached more than 100 dinosaurs so it depends on the dinosaurs limit.

I hope it gets fixed in the next update because there's already a species limit on PS4 so I wish for more dinosaurs as it used to be before the update. 😵
 
I have reported the problem, using the issue tracker and now it's marked as "by design".

I bought the game on the first day it came out and had no problems with it until the latest update.
I knew about not being able to have too many species or having mixed areas in Sandbox, that's ok.
But such a huge letdown after an update which was made to improve the game?
Why is it "by design"?

If the PS 4 Pro can't handle the graphics, that's fine. Reduce the details or do something similar instead of lowering the frame rate of animations.
It worked before the update so it should be possible to change it back.

Now it's unplayable for me and I payed for a game that was fantastic but got ruined by a new update.

I had high hopes for the next update in December but since it's by design I'm afraid nothing will change. 😒
 
So you're saying the game is unplayable because it lags a little bit during socialising? Hmmm.....

Most of the time I just use the free camera mode to observe the dinosaurs and take screenshots of them in my sandbox parks, hence the importance for me.

The new animations were the main reason why I bought the sequel.. It's relaxing to watch the dinosaurs after a long day at work and when they move like robots, I can't enjoy the game anymore.

Let me start by saying that Frontier did an amazing job with the game.
I had a great time playing it and all DLCs have been perfect, including the new Malta DLC.
Thanks for all the work and effort you put in the game. I really mean it.

As feared, the problem has not been solved with the new update so I decided to greatly reduce the amount of dinosaurs in my park to enjoy the game again.

Now I have 120 dinosaurs and the choppy animations change each time I sell a dinosaur.

For example, with 121 dinosaurs, the social animations of Pachycephalosaurus were choppy and the ones for Triceratops were normal again.

With 120 dinosaurs, the social animations of Pachycephalosaurus finally run fluently, but now Triceratops animations are bugged.

Only social animations are affected.
All other animations are perfect and I don't recognize huge frame drops.

I don't think that 120 dinosaurs are a lot, especially not on a big map like Isla Nublar 2015.

Is there really no way to solve the problem or can I get some feedback what I should change to have good animations for all dinosaurs again? Maybe it doesn't only depend on the amount of dinosaurs and I don't have to sell even more of them?..

An answer by someone from Frontier would be much appreciated.

I can try flagging this with the team, but I haven't seen other reports about this so I can't guarantee that it will be investigated. It's possibly being caused by the amount of dinos in your park, but it could also be caused by the number of buildings and decorations as well. If there's a lot of, well, stuff in your parks, that could have an impact on performance.

Without knowing more about the park you've built there's not a lot of help I can give beyond this though.

The issue has already been posted in the issue tracker (not only by me)

You can find it, typing "animation" to show matching issues. (Last one is from October, 18th)

The problem started with update 1.5.1 and only social animations and release animations from hatchery are affected. I had no issues before and I played a lot 😉

It's probably mainly because of too many dinosaurs because it also occurs in Sandbox Parks that don't have many buildings.
Maybe it can be fixed so I can have at least 120-130 dinosaurs.

@Jens , can talk to the team please! because other people are commenting yes, I suffer from the same problems and I play in a Series X so there is no excuse for limitation. this is not safe before update 4, here is another complaining post of the same error. investigate this, it is disturbing the immersion.

By design? Sorry but this cant be. At least, they should put confirming and try to find some kind of solution.
 
Yep..Few hours after I submitted the report, I saw it was marked "by design" and I also saw another report with the similar issue that got marked "by design". I guess it is a compromise to maintain game performance, but it is a shame that it kinda breaks the immersion when you have a heavily populated park and most dinosaurs move like robots frame by frame.
