Anniversary animal top picks

The anniversary is coming in the blink of an eye peeps, so why not making some sort of poll to see what is the more likely species you expect for it? I am going to make a poll with a what the community considers to be the most likely animals following the current anniversary animal criteria:
  • the anniversary animal is bound to be a clone this means that
    • 1. the animal doesn't use a new rig
    • 2. the animal doesn't have new sounds (I think this is a safe assumption since the red deer)
  • it is an animal that is requested in the meta wishlist
Okay so that said let's see the likely contenders:

1. African Spurred tortoise. The most requested tortoise species, the largest continental tortoise.

2. American black bear. A really easy addition whose charm relies mostly on the numerous colour morphs it has, aside of its representation as part of the North American fauna.

3. Spectacled bear. A common pick for highlands, but still a valid anniversary animal too, this south american bear stands as the most requested bear species.

4. Raccoon dog. Often requested by canid fans, it does not really bring anything new to the roster because it is pretty much a fox with thick puffy fur but I think it would be ok as an anniversary animal.

5. Nile crocodile. I do like Nile crocodiles, and they would be fairly easy to add, more reptiles are always welcome.

6. Wild boar. While I think its addition as anniversary is unlikely because it would be the second European animal added in a row... why not right? It's just another pig after all.

7. Tufted capcuhin / Squirrel monkey. Monke.

1697468703231.png

8. North American river otter. Another otter, fairly easy clone, fairly popular too.

9. Alpaca. People want yet another south american camelid for some reason. The alpaca is the most requested one.

10. American flamingo. It's like the greater flamingo but red. Has points because it's a bird.

Cannot attach more files :'''(

11. Blackbuck. Super requested animal, super easy to add, too, honestly I would love to get it.

12. Wisent. Another European clony animal, kind of like the wild boar, but less requested.

13. Masai giraffe / Grevy's zebra / African leopard. African reskins, do really people prefer these to a better quality animal? This feels like a step backwards from the red deer tbh

14. Coyote/Jackal. lol I mean, sure I guess.

15. Ocelot. I had forgot about this one. The ocelot would definitely be a good Anniversary animal.

16. Bighorn sheep. Would be kinda funny if this was the Anniversary animal, basically an improvement over the dall sheep.

So that would be all, if I didn't include other picks it's possibly because they would require new animations or new sounds (this includes both the rhea and the grey crowned crane, sorry), which one would you like to see the most?

I want both the Andean bear and the ABB, but I don’t think a reskin of formosan bear or sun bear would work as the andeans have a unique short snout and the ABBs can look a lot different and some even skinnier.
The tortoise, otters, monkeys and Nile crocodile I could see.
Maybe the wild boar reskin of RRH.
Alpacas would need to be their own, they are different in comparison to llamas and less likely to spit (I’ve worked with alpacas).
Maybe they can fuse the raccoon model with a fox model to make the tanuki?
I could see Wisents reskin of bison.

I'd take wild boar the most out of all of those. That being said I don't see us getting two European ungulates in a row.

My favorites from this list are the two bears and the raccoon dog :) Surely, Blackbuck would also be nice. And I would very happily welcome Rhea, too!
I cross my fingers for the American Black bear

Grey Crowned Crane, Banded Mongoose and Masai Giraffe are my top 3 but out of these I guess I would go with the NA River Otter. I don't think that the anniversary animal needs to be requested that much. The B&W Lemur wasn't that requested.

Greater rhea or blackbuck is what i hope.

American black bear and wild boar seem likely.

Nile crocodile is also an option.

I think either the American Black Bear, Nile Crocodile, or Wild Boar are the likely candidates, with a possibility of a second giraffe, zebra or Flamingo.

I'd love for it to be the Spectacled Bear, and if they're not planning any kind of Highlands pack it would make a perfect anniversary gift, but it seems too marketable to include.

If there's not some kind of European/Eurasian plans, the Wiild Boar makes the most sense. The Wisent would also be an option here.

If plans include both the Wild Boar and Spectacled Bear, the American Black Bear or Nile Crocodile make the most sense.

The Giraffe, Zebra and Flamingo I'm, putting as the lower (but still happy with since it's free!) effort. All three are pretty standard and iconic zoo animals, yet we only have one of each, opposed to the Rhinos, Tigers, Elephants etc. I'd add the Lion here but the taxonomy really doesn't show it's a totally different species so it's inclusion would not be as welcome I think, as the Giraffe, Zebra or Flamingo.

Finally, exhibit animals are also an option. And if they did that, I'd hope it would be two animals. Standard exhibits for a Cobra and a Chameleon, two of the more prioritized and requested types of standard exhibit animals.

So all in all that's like 10 choices and I'm probably wrong but I feel like it's somewhere in this list of mine.

Feel free to correct me on anything I say
In regards to what some of you have suggested
Masai giraffe likely would work as a reskin, just got to get the patterns right!
Rheas seem much thinner and then ostrich and emus
Flamingos seem easy enough
I took a look at gray cranes, Sandhills and others, they seem different enough in bodies and tail feathers to match a reskin of red crowned crane. Perhaps a work off of the RCC, but reskin I just don’t see.
Also what kind of animal model would work for a blackbuck reskin?

I definitely think it’s a clone or animal that has decor in game. I highly doubt anything that is truly unique simply because frontier as a business would lose money on such animal. Why offer a Andean bear for free when there’s demand and money that could be made from it. Just a example. I think the previous two yrs have proven this. White and black lemur a clone with edits which most clones are. And the red deer which coincidentally had decor in game since the base game.

Anniversary animals are usually very common and not enormously spectacular. Quite common animals too. I'd say; Black bear, nile crocodile and blackbuck. These 3 have a good chance of becoming an anniversary animal. Though it is, as always, quite hard to guess what frontier is up to!

The rhea has also been mentioned quite a bit.
While I would love to get rheas I think they are just too different to be the anniversary animal, but well we can always hope right.

Also to all those people expecting another zebra/giraffe/whatever that is kind of a big step backwards from the red deer don't you think? I honestly don't want that at all.

Also what kind of animal model would work for a blackbuck reskin?
Quite literally any gazelle, all 3 gazelles use the same rig. blackbuck would be no different.
