Announcing the new monarch of Sagittarius A*

Believe me, we guessed. 2 racial stereotypes about 2 neighbours using tired old non-jokes could only be a middle Englander. Funny how many people say British when they mean English, others say they are Welsh or Scottish and British. To many in middle England they dont seem to realise they arent the same thing at all.
Well first, I pointed out I'm English, so I'm aware of the differences. Second, it's called banter. There are English stereotypes too, one of which you even used. I make fun of your country, you make fun of mine, we all laugh, and go home happy. At least that's how it's supposed to work.

Lol...
I once camped out at SagA in an iCourier for about a week. I thought it would be funny to RP a space mad explorer.

I asked people stupid questions like “did you see an M type star on the way here? Wasn’t it big?” Or “Just look at that tree...”

I was hoping to start a rumour about a crazy guy floating about lost at the centre of the galaxy and see if it made it on to the forums...

Sadly i only encountered two cmdr’s during my time there. One just seemed to run away, the other was (rightly) very confused and just ignored me... 😂😂

Seems to me that Sag A* is sort of like the Eiffel Tower. Anyone that goes to Paris goes to see it, then they go do whatever else.

At least the Eiffel Tower is unique and worth looking at. Once you've seen one black hole in ED, you've seen them all!

The first commander probably thought you were a Reaver 👹

What's the background story? Is this some kind of battle royal at SagA? Or was this maybe posted in the wrong section and is just roleplay? I'm confused.

Are we going to remain this openly hostile towards another player's immersion? Oh dear.. Oh dear, you're.. You're not going to like this one guy. That.

Oh no! Not another blue flash! HEADS DOWN! Officer Carmike! Protect the life support! We got a hyperspace leak !

You presume too much. Of course, so does the player laying claim to the system.

You presume that we are hostile to him when that involves too much personal investiture. He presumes several things, first and foremost that explorers need protecting, then that Sag A* is a place that people congregate, that it is a place where hunters would hang out regularly, etc.

The fact of the matter is, the throne of Sag A* is an antique chair in an empty room, significant only because it is at the top of the tallest building in the biggest city. No one stays there because there is no elevator and no grand windows to look out.

Drive out all the fleet carriers from the system, and then we can consider acknowledging your claim.

Once upon a time in the distant past someone thought it would be a good idea to camp out at Sadge and murderise people who went there, disguising their ganking intent beneath a light veneer of roleplay*. They lasted a week or so before anyone bothered to make the trek out and blow them up.

There have been imitators since then (it's not exactly a difficult idea to come by, if you're looking for an excuse to kill hapless explorers, Sgr A* being the tourist spot that it is) and this Cmdr wants to be the latest in line. As Marx pointed out, they'd need to convince a bunch of Fleet Carrier owners (about ten at the time of writing) to vacate the system to truly lay claim to it.

(edited to add;

The FCs do make it a lot harder to get rid of someone doing this, for sure. Swings and roundabouts!) :)

*the classic "Oh, but my character is a psychopath so that's what they would do, I'm in character!" defence, as seen in, well, every roleplaying system that has ever been played. ;)

Sounds pretty boring to me waiting all day to shoot a few people down who very likely won't even defend themselves. It's like the most boring gameplay ever.

Oh, yes. That's the reason why nobody stays ganking at Sgr A* for long. But a few do show up from time to time, as you can see; because if you can't stand out from all the other gankers in the bubble, you can stand out if you go somewhere where there are none.
