Annoying new SteamVR "feature": Showing dashboard on startup

This is so aggravating. Who thought that was a good feature? Since the 2.0 update, SteamVR always pops up the dashboard when I launch Elite (presumably any VR game). Of course as the G2 has no interface button for gaze control as the Index does, you need a controller to get rid of the dashboard. I never have the controllers fired up, often there aren't even batteries in them. I hate this.

It only happens on the first launch, I can "fix" it by closing SteamVR (and the game) and relaunching it, but this is terrible. Oh, I don't start SteamVR and then the game (because I would need a controller to do so), I just launch Elite with the /VR parameter, and SteamVR launches automatically.

The only other way to disable it is to go to settings - dashboard and set "Dashboard on system button" to off, but guess what? Then I cannot call the dashboard from the controller anymore if I need it.

Who thought this was a good design? Seriously? Anyone know any other way to prevent the SteamVR Dash from showing with the new 2.0 client?

Gripe on the SteamVR Steam discussions -- there is a non-zero chance a developer sees it, and complies. :7 (EDIT: Somebody has already made the request, I see, but another "vote" can't hurt...)

Browsing SteamVR/resources/settings/default.vrsettings, I notice a: 'SteamVR: { "startDashboardFromAppLaunch": true }', and a : 'dashboard: { "enableDashboard": true }'. Chance is these could both be deprecated legacy keys, but maybe they still do something, if you override them in your steamvr.vrsettings file...

I saw this as well. I don't play with controllers. I only play ED in VR and my only use for VR is ED.

I got this turned off (I think) by changing the bottom entry on Steam VR -> Settings ->Dashboard to "OFF". It was something about a System key to enable/disable the dashboard. Turning it off prevented the dashboard from popping up at all...
