Another Terrain tool is needed

I think that they need to add another terrain tool that will make it easier to create curved surfaces. I am having trouble rounding out the surfaces like I want.
Maybe a curved tool like the chisel but shaped like a bowl that would be scaleable to help curve the surfaces. Using the other tools is very hard to get a smooth curve even at the lowest settings.

This is why we have a forum though, for people to give feedback. Yes they will polish things by beta but isn't the point of alpha for us to tell them what is working and what isn't?

I want a tool that sticks terrain onto scenery like the attach thing does. Don't know if that is possible

Yea maybe they can add different types of shape for the terrain editing so spheres or triangles etc

This is why we have a forum though, for people to give feedback. Yes they will polish things by beta but isn't the point of alpha for us to tell them what is working and what isn't?

But surely it is still acceptable to discuss things that we like/dislike or would like to be improved about the game. We shouldn't just dismiss everything people say with the "it's an alpha" thing. You might not think it but they do actually read this part of the forum too. I doubt someone from the dev team is going to look at this and say "oh, that's a great idea, why didn't I think of that?... It's just a shame its not in the suggestions forum so we can't put it in" [happy]

Sure but what he basically made was a suggestion. He never said, "ive got this idea, what do you guys think?", he stated what he wanted and how it could be implimented. That sounds like a post that belongs in the very forum set up specifically to keep things like that in one place. The Suggestions and Ideas Forum.

I'm sorry if my posting here does not meet with your approval, but I did a search for terrain tools and nothing in this vein showed up. BTW, I did not know that we had unofficial forum police. I'm sure one of the moderators can move this thread, but thank you for pointing out the error of my ways. [big grin]

I wouldn't worry about it. The same pattern repeats over and over wherever you go. There are certain people in life (let's call them....zealots...) who see any observation of something they approve of or are invested in as a personal sleight and will make it a crusade to stamp it out. An easy way to do that wouldn't be to debate, but quote the rules...

Keep expressing your opinion and ignore those people. They stand out a mile.

I can see why people would want that , at the same time since when does nature create those types of shapes?

Also given how the terrain works (voxel based I believe) I am not sure it will be able to go down to that level of detail.

Have you seen the things people make? Floating islands, massive dragons, etc?

Based on what we have seen, ground going around terrain, auto tunnels, etc. I think we can expect more.

You'll never know. The developers of Planet Coaster might very well be looking for suggestions and ideas on other parts of the forum as well, not only the Suggestions and Ideas forum. [up]

However, like what was posted earlier in this thread, it is recommended to post suggestions and ideas in the Suggestions and Ideas forum, to ensure maximum visibility for the developers.

The Discussions forum can be used to "discuss anything related to Planet Coaster that doesn't fit in any of the other forums here". As long as it is related to Planet Coaster, members can post here, including posts to discuss suggestions and ideas.
