Another use for Hatchbreakers: Fuel Syphon limpets

I've mentioned this before but never posted it here.

Given the locking out of services including refuel after committing a crime would a retask of the Hatchbreaker limpet be possible?

Using Hatchbreakers to steal fuel would mean you become more independent and have the ability to operate away from anarchy systems for longer. It would also mean you wouldn't have to fill up an internal slot with a fuel scoop which on smaller ships like a Cobra 3 is critical when building a Piracy capable vessel.

On a larger ship you could swap out a fuel scoop for an afmu and the ship is pretty much self sufficient. Weapons can be reloaded with synthesis if required.

The fuel scoop already exists for this purpose but does penalise smaller ships who need access to other modules.

So, instead of going through your shield and destroying your hull I just have to drain 32T of fuel through your shield to destroy someone. Wow, I guess those FDL pilots with 2T fuel tanks better watch out. [haha]

Yeah, it seems very easily exploitable like that. Not opposed in theory, but seems hard to balance in practice.

Wouldnt it work if you just made it so it drains % instead of solid tonnes?

That way, you'd have to still raid larger ships to get more fuel, but the smaller ships will still have fuel to run away with.

Genius idea!

Love it! [heart]
