Another way to travel

I would like to see a transit system that we as players can use. I would like to be able to take my ASPx and go to a system where I want to do an activity with it. Do my activity, park it at a station and then hop on a spacebus that takes me back to my "home" system where I have my merit running ship stored so I can go run my merits. When I hope on a bus I have to choose one that takes me to my desired location and gives me a list of the places it travels through and what stations is stops at. Then once I get on that ship I would have to either wait while my character takes the ride, maybe watch the galaxy map as my character indicator moves from system to system, or I get to see my character sitting at the window seat of my transport as it goes from system to system along the intended route. Maybe along the way I have to catch a connecting flight...

I wouldn't mind spending a few 1000 credits for such a ride if it would mean I don't have to buy a sidewinder...
 
And this happens in real time...?

Why not - if it continues even when not logged in. Similar to ship transfer. And what if could join another commanders ship, not as tele-presence but as a real person to travel to a specific location (hoping that the commander really takes me there)

I played a space MUD about 20 years ago that had this feature. It was agonizing seeing the time of arrival being a few hours.

I think a good alternative to this, so you're not completely stuck without any gameplay is to instead have a hanger\shipping system. You buy a ship hanger in a station you want your ship to be stored. So in the scenario above in the first post, they go to the planet and do their activity, purchase a hanger, return to their main base of operations and ship their Asp X back there.

Maybe it could let you play CQC during transit? IIRC CQC is supposed to be a game-within-a-game anyway, and it might get people playing it again.
