Ant Hill Mob?

Hello everyone I'm new to the forum but been playing this game back when it first came out for early access.

anyway, I was at Tun doing missions and LHS 535 was on lock down for a few days. looked at the news feed and it said something about ant hill mob in the system. then i come down to maia and notice the ant hill mob has controll of obsidian orbital. are these guys a big gang and right after it got hit they took over?

Pretty sure Ant Hill Mob was the controlling faction at obsidian orbital, at least before the federal and imperial factions jumped in.

For a very long time the only profitable missions out of Obsidian Orbital were smuggling missions, which meant the criminal faction took control of the system really quickly and has stayed in control ever since.

Is the Ant Hill Mob specifically set by Frontier Developments as the controlling faction in Maia? As of the time of this post, The Ant Hill Mob is at 3% influence and Hagglebeard's Heroes are at 31% influence. I would have expected the controlling faction to have switched by now.

Two factions have to have their influence close together in order to start a war/civil war/election and then the challenging faction has to win by raising their influence above 5% over the other one, which will cause a handover of control. Another way is for one faction to raise their influence above 60%, then they challenge the control faction to a war/civil war/election, and victory is almost assured unless the control faction is backed by a dedicated player group. Short answer is that neither of those conditions seemed to have happened yet.

The whole reason Ant Hill Mob is so low appears to be in part on the rescue ship that was there last week. Seems like nobody wanted to evacuate pirates.

Low population system with a high commander through put. The influences go up and down rapidly, but actually making a change is very hard.
