Anti cheating tool. I like this a lot :)

Well, David Braben did say about griefers all ending up in the same instance together.

Didn't David Braben mention something like this for greifers in a recent interview, I.e : greifers could be instanced only with other griefers ... same could apply to cheaters too i expect. It's a fantastic idea :D

edit: Ninja'd by Darren Grey :)

Hopefully there will be an option in the game, to watch them, kill each other

It would make me laugh as Mr Invincible Shields takes on Ms Never Misses with my Aimbot Beam Laser.

Even more amusing would be to move them without them knowing, so they all end up in some tossers group together unable to work out why their cheats are not effective any more, and complaining to Frontier that everyone else is cheating.

Sounds good on paper...

But what do you do about false positives? Some poor guy gets wrongly stuck in the cheater's group with no power of appeal, because he doesn't even know he's been moved.

Titanfall tells you that it has detected a cheat. It might not tell you then and there what affect that will have on the game for you I'm not sure it needs to. It's not a message regular players will see and it doesn't take a lot of surmise it probably won't do anything that would generally be considered positive for you.

As far as I know most anti-cheat systems are pretty accurate, if they weren't you'd hear a lot more about false positives. Certainly not something I'd worry about (unless the system in place was a good old vote-kick, that's a system with plenty of false positives).

So (in theory) something could go horribly wrong and exaga and snuffler could mistakenly end up in the same instance, together? With no-one else?

Of course, that ruins my plan, which hangs on 100% reliability of cheating detection. Which can never be.

it's the biter bit

:)

If they can identify cheaters, they should simply perma ban them. No ****ing about, just ban them, destroy and delete the account.

Allowing them to play in their own little world sends totally the wrong message (yet again) and that is that either they don't give a damn about them cheating, or they find it a laughing matter, with tolerance and resources going to give them their own corner to play in.

*******s. Hate them.

I've seen many a decent game totally ruined by cheating ,and a zero tolerance attitude towards it would be ideal, and the only thing I will ever applaud when it comes to cheats.

Sadly in this day and age, it will never happen.

Its a great idea, its better than banning them as they get a taste of what its really like on the other side.

I think a lot will be put off cheating forever once they get a taste of their own medicine and see how boring it makes the game. Which is better than just straight out banning them and they just move onto the next game.

And theres the shame of dragging your mates into cheating servers, peer pressure and being friendless will be a huge incentive to stop the dirty tactics

The only incentive it gives them is to be in their own little world where they can develop more cheats without fear, and even to grief people by grouping up with them.

With everybody cheating in the same server it will get old quick, they would probably prefer to be proper banned in the end.

Only reports are not legitimate enough, they need proof by using tools such as Punkbuster, official plugins (that detect one's bullet spread, speed, range, precision, etc.).
If those parameters are above normal, then he's a cheater.
We had some tools on our BF server that did that.

Did they say how they detected them? Reports by users?

Active running processes are visible to the game engine. So in the most simple case, it can see when there is a cheater_scum.dll service active. They are other fingerprints as well so it's not just as a case of randomizing the service name, but you should get the idea.
