Anti Fogging

Anyone got any good ideas on how to defog a Rift?
It's blummy hot in here and my sweaty eyebrows are steaming up me lenses. Usually I can play thru it until temps equalize, but phew, not happening tonight.

What are your antifoggy methods, if any?

On a positive note, the fogged lenses reduce the SDE.
On a negative note, I'm sat here in my pants. You can have that for free :-]

I got nothing that's sure-fire. But you got my sympathy because I have the same problem. I bought a lens cloth and wipe my lenses every time I use them. I also have a desk fan blowing on my head on hot days.

I tend to just wipe the lenses of both my glasses and the rift every 30 seconds for about 5 minutes - its a pain to be sure - hopefully DK1 will have built in eye fans :)
I should probably copyright "built in eye fans" I could end up rich...........

I solved this long time ago. I have a small fan on my desk that points upward and to my left. air enters though the vents on the side of the rift and keeps the lenses from fogging up. fan is about 3 feet from me. a gentle breeze is all it takes

I have some tiny wee lil fans at work, wondering if I can jerry rig them onto the HMD and runt them off the USB port. Hmm.

I can see another thread looming about the best ete drops as my eyeballs have shrivelled up :-]

The desk fan idea is excellent. One problem, need to tidy my desk. Or turn the fan right up, 2 birds one stone. Doubt the wife will see it that way tho.

PS - Just stuck with it tonight, wiped the mist off a couple of times and temps finally equalised to stop the condensation forming. Face is well hot tho.

This is a common problem for divers. Either pick up some defogger fluid or, if you are cheap, you can use your own saliva; it actually works quite well as an anti-fogging agent, but is much less sanitary. (Please, PLEASE don't do this if you share your Rift. Your own eyes probably won't be affected by your germ and bacterial colonies, but other people's WILL, great way to give someone conjunctivitis.)

You could try a sweatband over your eyebrows, a little like Ritchie Tenenbaum ;)

I had some luck using those little Silica Gel packets you find in all sorts of packages, just stuff them around the interior.

But be careful. These things can suck the moisture right out of your eyes. If any somehow touches your eye and gets into your system, you are in for a world of doctors

Ha Richie,
Pack the inside of your VR cover with rice? Stop breathing? Move to colder climate?

That's what I was going to say. Lick them. Or give them to your ship's cat to lick. ;)

Yes potato, toothpaste etc but for dry sports bob heath visor spray worked well, but alas probably no longer on the market. quick search yes it is. http://www.bobheathvisors.co.uk/race_visors.html

I use "Cat Crap" - Motorcycle visor antifog paste - works well, but you have to reapply every few hours of play
Oh and I put tape over the bottom vents

apparently this is a non-issue for the CV1.

things I have found.
1) in winter esp - warm your lenses for a minute before using
2) do not use if you just had a shower with damp hair
3) the issue gets better as you get your VR legs
4) apparnely the issue is hugely reduced in CV1

5) (not tried it as its no longer an issue due to following poitns 1-3) scuba diving mask defogger? )

1. Warm up the rift some before wearing.

2. Breath in deeply through your nose. (for me it drags air in through the rift... but it probably depends largely on how the Rift fits on my face)

3. Get an Air Conditioner. (kill a few birds with one stone)

i guess i must be lucky as i dont really have a problem with fogging of the lense. Also i do like the "nose-hole" of the DK2 which lets me look at my keyboard from time to time.
