Anti Guardian Field Materials

So … didn’t play throughout most (any?) of the Titan / Spire stuff being added but now dabbling in some AX stuff in Shin Dez … assuming I don’t want to spend three weeks learning Titan stuff and searching for materials, is there anywhere I can buy the materials to add the Anti Guardian Field engineering to some Gauss Cannon?

They cannot be purchased, have to find them yourself (or get another player helping to find/get them).

And one of those items can only be found at an active Titan, so you’d have to go to Cocijo or Raijin for it.

You won't need them at Shin Dez, only at a Titan.

I don't think even FCs can sell the stuff, but worth checking the markets.

I've not bothered getting the mods done, so can't offer any advice, sorry. (Can still get my 2+ mill bonds just poodling around with stuff that doesn't need the modifier)

Was at Shin Dez last night … overall very good but at one point a Hunter field deleted my Mod Plasmas whilst I was inside Jameson re-launching having just docked to repair them from the last Hunter that did that …

Thanks - that’s was I feared … I could buy the “kickstart AX Chieftain” or whatever it’s called - comes with two C1s with the engineering already in place - but I’d probably want at least three C1 or a couple of C2s to make some kind of impact.

You should probably also be aware, due to the way Frontier implemented the AGF resistance (as a separate primary engineering effect), pre-engineered Guardian weapons cannot have it put on them.

So unless you want to suffer with the gauss cannons, or the woeful original Guardian shards/plasma chargers, you’d just have to tough out Glaives through several repair cycles or wait for NPCs/station guns to kill them (the ones from an orbital port such as this are potent enough to do it within reasonable time).

I had debated engineering some guardian weapons for better AX performance. However, last time I did that - some time back now - I picked the Guardian Plasma Chargers as I'd seen videos of them working really well vs. Interceptors - particularly the Orthrus. Upon unlocking and installing them however, they did precisely ZERO damage to anything I shot them with. I landed solid hits, all charged up. They. Didn't. Work. At all! Wasted two BP unlocking two sizes of those! I'm hesitant to unlock the Shards as I was worried they'd be equally broken. Plus, while I've acquired full loads of many Thargoid materials, I suspect I'm missing the specific ones needed to Engineer the anti-anti-Guardian field thing. Those materials are exclusive to LIVE Titans, right? I don't think I managed to collect any of those.

I saw someone last night in an Anaconda firing a giant huge white blob at at Interceptor, doing massive damage to Hearts each time. Dunno what that weapon was. That "blob" might have been lots of smaller shots (Shard?) but it was very glowy so just looked like a giant blob from a distance.

Currently using regular AX MC's myself, useful for keeping the Scout off the heavy damage-dealers while they engage the Interceptors, but a bit slow when dealing with said Interceptors myself.

Like I said, I've got full bins of loads of different Thargoid-related materials, but none of them seem to be the ones I actually need! I didn't even have the stuff needed to unlock the other AX weapons - you know, those "loads of materials each" unlocks. Sigh.

Yeh - I really don’t understand why they added the “anti guardian field” thing … just seems like an “anti fun field” to me!! Why make us grind for these things if you’re gonna make them obsolete?!

I’ve switched to Krait Mk II now. I don’t like the ship as much as the FAS but the extra hardpoint is hard to say no to.

Was running 2x Plasmas / 2x Shards with a TV Beam for cooling which helps reduce the impact of only having a single heatsink … worked well but … in one instance I managed to take the first Hunter out before the weapons degraded but not the second one … other instances I just had to wait for them to be killed by someone else as I could even get out of the station with functioning weapons!!

I’m gonna try a couple of EAX MCs along with the TV Beam and two Mod Plasmas:

  • Multis for Scouts, Hunters and hearts (once scanned)
  • Plasmas for exerting hearts and additional “burst damage” when required

Would need a couple of sensible fire groups to manage everything but I think the weapons could work together for a mixture of sustained / burst damage rather than the Plasma and Shards which are both burst damage …

I rely on mod plasmas as my main guns too, but as Kira Goto said they can’t be engineered for AGF resistance. If you can avoid the glaives you’ll be fine (though it’s a bit rough being nabbed by one while docked at Jameson!). The other type of hunter, the scythe, doesn’t have AGF. Scythes and scouts are all I’m good for when it comes to ’goids.
