Anti Piracy mission question

Hi

This is not a complaint (ok maybe very minor) however its more of a logic issue / or missunderstanding on my part....
Can anyone explain the thinking behind the fact that we never get anti piracy missions in the system we are in?

I cant think it is a matter of balance - 2 hrs in an RES last night i made 700k in a wing of 2. even on my own that is only 750k an hr.

I do not mind, I do not play for the money BUT wouldnt it make sense for the mining station next to the ring to give out missions to fight the pirates in its own back yard, rather than to fly to other systems to kill them?

it seems a bit like Manchester police hiring a bounty hunter to go hunting in Cambridge and Cambridge police to hire one to go to Manchester.

Thanks

From what I understand of the after effect of these missions, there are two reasons why they are conducted in other systems:

1) Success almost always leads to a reduced chance of a Lockdown or Civil Unrest in that system-probably a system the mission giver's faction wants to keep trading with.

2) These piracy missions usually lead to the faction they belong to losing influence, which might be what the mission givers want.

Hope that helps :).

Thanks..... So it is a side effect of the BGS then?. I guess I just have to accept it however it still makes little sense to me that the local station does not want its own miners protecting.

+1

Please give us more in system missions, not just anti piracy but hauling, smuggling etc. as well.

There are in system missions, they are just very rare.

They have them in every Bounty Hunting CG. Despite the BGS explaination above, I still think it makes sense to have them in the system, and only offered by the controlling faction.

I am not sure about this. We already have different in system jurisdictions, the area around a station isn't governed by the controlling system faction but by the faction controlling the station. In theory this could be applied to different areas as well, for example a RES next to a station. In this case it would make sense that the faction controlling the jurisdiction gives you a pirate hunt mission. Another example would be a pirate faction that is interested in reducing the number of authority ships for obvious reasons.

PS

You could even create missions that not only require you to fly to a specific system but that also need to be fulfilled in a specific jurisdiction. I think this would open some great opportunities for improved mission mechanics.
