Antialiasing

Hi,

Been playing with the DK2 for quite a few months now, it seems we havent had any improvement of the AA in VR. Some other the other games i play (assetto corsa for example) on the DK2 look much smoother round the edges of sprites and text etc compared to ED. The experience in ED is sore on the eyes because of this and I feel very much so detracts from the amazing experience.

I have a powerful gaming rig and have the ability to play at pretty much max settings yet no matter what I do I cannot get rid of those jagged lines, they are in fact so jagged that they appear to do that flickery effect when ever the ingame camera moves.

Has anyone else managed to qwell these issues?

FD's lack of communication with us about VR support and development within ED I find dissapointing as I think its the feature that is already in game (no dlc or expansion needed) that will take this game to levels other games can only dream of.

I think FD are doing a splendid job with VR implementation. They're launching their product today and 99% of their target audience does not have a Rift. They absolutely have to make the regular game launch (for 2D monitors) a priority right now. Anything else would be stupid.

Frankly I'm surprised they've provided constant bugfixes and improvements for VR despite that. I'm fairly certain that they will further improve the VR aspect of the game as soon as time allows. And I fully expect them to tweak the hell out of their VR mode when a release date for the consumer Rift in announced. :)

Assetto Corsa i think is the best. ED is far too aliased to be the top slot. I hope the tweaking happens from now till consumer rift, to wait is to stagnate. I suppose besides that ED needs move dev time put into adding some life to space to make it an interesting and fun game to play. Its kind of a travel simulator at the moment.

I agree that VR support should be on the backburner, more or less. Frontier should not focus their development time on getting it up to par. With that being said, they are doing a fantastic job with the resource(s) that they have assigned to the VR implementation project.

I'm not saying don't focus at all on the VR aspect, just that they shouldn't have "all-hands-on-deck" in regards to VR. At least, not yet.

I haven't tried it yet in final release because the performance of the game has apparently dropped massively, but during beta I was oversampling the game and that cleared up a lot of the AA issues.

I am running smaa (or whatever the highest one is called) no frame rate issues with my 789ti and it really cleans up the text
